I sure miss Mrs. Sandra running this store. It’s definitely went down hill lately. Today’s sandwich was a 6 inch Philly and my only stipulation was no mayo. The young lady taking order repeated it twice. Would appear I got extra mayo. Between that and the 6 inch being about 4 inches it’s just not worth it for what they charge at this point.
This time, we came in ten minutes before close, lights were on, door unlocked. The girl at the station went to take our order, but the same guy from last time saw me from the back and decided they were closed. So he kicked us out, went and turned off the lights, and locked the door.
I pulled up to this Subway slightly before 8pm and as I did with my lights shining into the store, all three employees turned my direction, looked at me and started laughing. Just kept staring, talking amongst each other, staring some more and laughing. I wasn’t sure what the joke was but I smiled back because, why not? I hadn’t done anything wrong. Maybe it was something else. I looked around and there was other people eating inside so I knew they were still open, I wasn’t sure what the big deal was but no worries, right? As I walk in to pick up my order, not one of them said a word to me, acknowledged me or simply looked at me. They looked down at the ground or anywhere but at me. Another customer walked in a minute or so after I did and one of them said “Hi! I’ll be right with you!” Okay? Did I do something? Do you not want business? The girl w/braids laid the order down on the counter when it was finished and somewhat mumbled at me. No prior exchange such as “we’re working on your order” or “it’ll be just a moment”…nothing.
They were just all together rude kids. I worked at a privately owned Subway myself when I was 16 and I am so glad that I was taught the proper manners because there’s no reason to act like that when all someone did was walk in your store, or better yet pull into your parking lot to give your company business and in turn, for you to get paid. I’m really sorry I caused you more work by picking up an order. It was one small sub and a bag of chips. Way to make someone feel weird for coming in.
Although this obviously isn’t the biggest deal ever, you never ever know who that customer may be. Next time it might be someone who matters.
