On October 11th, around 4:45 PM, I went into the Walmart in South Hanover, Pennsylvania, and stopped at the Subway/Auntie Anne’s Pretzel counter to order some pretzels.
Two employees were sitting in the back room on chairs, fully visible to me at the counter. They clearly saw me standing there but didn’t bother to get up for at least 30 seconds. I finally said “HELLO,” and one of them—a dark-haired girl wearing dark rimed glasses—slowly came over, looked annoyed, and asked, “How can I help you?”
I said I wanted some pretzels. She said “okay,” then started fiddling with the register. She opened the cash drawer, pulled out a bunch of $20 bills, and began shuffling them around like she was doing something important—but it was obvious she was just wasting time. I’ve worked in retail for years, and it was clear she was being passive-aggressive because I’d spoken up.
After a couple of minutes, she called over the other employee and they just stood there doing nothing. Finally, she grabbed some pretzels, set them on the counter, still holding that wad of crumpled $20s, and said in a short, rude tone, “It’s going to be a while.” I said OK and just walked out.
That was the last straw. If I were the owner, I’d seriously rethink who’s representing my business. I won’t be going back, and I’ll be making sure others know about this experience.
But in reality, the owner doesn’t care as they have never ever replied to ANY REVIEWS! Maybe that’s why at 5:00 diner time the place was empty!!
This is by far the best place I’ve ever been. The staff is amazing friendly kind.
