I initially went in just planning to eat bonda, but ended up trying quite a few dishes
The place truly gives a Telugu culture vibe simple, homely, and comforting.

The seating is small and adjustable, so don’t expect a spacious setup, but it works fine for a quick meal.
Food highlights:
• Poori was really good and fresh
• Bonda (Mysore Bajji) was crispy and satisfying
• Fish fry was flavorful and well-seasoned
• ☹️Panner dish was not good at all but
Sambar tasted authentic and comforting
• ❤️‍ ❤️‍ ponganaluuuuu oh my goddddd and Coffee is made with Bru, decent and does the job
Overall, the food quality and taste definitely stand out more than the ambiance. The ambiance is okay-ish, but the flavors make it worth giving a try, especially if you’re craving Telugu-style food.
Would definitely come back for the poori and bonda again ✨

Honestly, the food was amazing. The dosa was perfectly crispy and tasted sooo good, and the mutton pulao… omg, easily one of the best I’ve had On top of that, the service was really nice n everyone was friendly and made us feel comfortable. Such a great overall experience. Definitely coming back.

We visited this place twice. Once we ordered subamma special chicken pulav which was good and easily sufficient for 2 people. Next time when we ordered Veg fried rice, paneer momo`s and veg manchuria. The quantity was too low. And the taste was also ok ok. We immediately asked the staff there, they said this is what we give. But honestly for those prices and for the quantity I was totally disappointed.
Veg manchuria – 13.99
Veg fried rice – 11.99
Paneer momo – 14.99
Please don’t order indo-chinese, try only pulav’s and snacks.

Love the food. Went there twice last week. Had to wait for table. But but eventually was able to sit and order. Goat curry is to die for and chilli chicken. Ordered tandoori roti with goat. Not a fancy place but I will go again for food. Or would carry out

We ordered the boneless chicken pulav, medu vada, garlic naan and mango lassi. They were all amazing! The lassi was so creamy and delicious, perfectly sweet. The pulav was so flavorful, warm, and comforting, and the portion was very big. The medu vada was perfectly fluffy, chewy, and also warm, and the naan was crispy and delicious. The service was also amazing, staff are very kind. Would recommend!

This was hands down one of the best south indian meals I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Every dish tasted like a true home-cooked meal – fresh, comforting, and full of authentic flavors. Even found my favorite oggarane here.

I wish everyone in the area should try this restaurant! One of the most authentic Indian restaurant I have been to in the US. The menu is filled with delicious dishes, each one unique in its own flavor. The owner (and chef) is such a genuine human being and made my family feel so welcomed and taken care of. If I am ever in the area, I will always make it a point to visit this restaurant. I only wish my stomach was bigger so I could have ordered more!

I visited Subbamma Kitchen today, and the ambience instantly gave me authentic Indian vibes with its homely and traditional touch in a small scale . We started with the crispy corn, which was perfectly crunchy and well-seasoned , a great appetizer to set the tone. The egg chicken noodles were decent, though they felt more on the average side and could use a bit more flavor to stand out. The highlight of the meal was definitely the mutton pulav aromatic, rich in spices, and packed with tender pieces of mutton that made every bite enjoyable. We also tried the classic Muddha Pappu with Avakai, which carried a nostalgic homemade taste, but it could have been even better with a little extra spice to balance the flavors. Overall, it was a delightful experience with authentic touches, and a few tweaks could make the dishes even more memorable.

I gave them another shot. Mutton pulav and gongura fish pulav ( there is no biryani there.. It’s all pulav)
Came home and after having the food… I give this food 10/10
This food had the right spice, and flavor… I’m blown away by the mutton pulav. Changing to a 5 star

Edit
Taking ownership requires a lot. As the food had flavor changing it to 3 stars

Drove 30 minutes from Downers Grove after seeing some reviews, but this place was a letdown. The restaurant looked dead, with no atmosphere, and the front desk staff didn’t say a word the entire time, which made it feel even more unwelcoming.

I ordered the Goat Hyderabadi Biryani from their special board, while my wife got the Paneer Biryani to-go. The prices were surprisingly high for a newly opened place, but we decided to give it a shot.

When we got home and opened the food, I was extremely disappointed to find they had given me chicken biryani instead of goat—despite charging me the premium price for goat, plus a tip. The rice itself had good flavor, but the chicken did not seem fresh at all. The Paneer Biryani was decent but nothing special.

Mixing up an order, especially when charging premium prices, is unacceptable. I hope they don’t do this to other customers. Definitely not coming back.

Yesterday we had one of the amazing culinary experience from a very passionate lady Shravya. Such a modest personality but what a profound flavors in her cooking. Truly had a great food plate and felt like a grand maa’s cooking at home.
I wish them great success without loosing there passion for what she is doing.
I think her belief in her cooking and quality will bless her with huge name and fame in future.

This is not a paid review and coming from a Foodie himself, I will respond to every answers if someone like to ask.

Please support this establishment to there journey to glory.
Hope one day I have to wait for a week before I get a reservation to enjoy there food.
Meanwhile don’t expect fancy decor but savor the flavor instead
God bless Subbamma
