Reviews
The food was absolutely incredible! Mouth-watering, deeply flavourful, and beautifully prepared. What really surprised me was the value: the prices are very reasonable for a Michelin-starred restaurant, and the portions are generous, easily enough to share between 3 or even 4 people. Outstanding quality for the price.
A small thing to be aware of if you sit outside: you’re very much in nature, so be prepared for mosquitoes and the occasional wildlife encounter. We did have a moment where we asked to move tables, and although there was a slight language barrier, the staff handled it kindly and accommodated us regardless. As a foreigner, you may need to use Google Translate at times, but it didn’t take away from the experience at all.
Overall, a beautiful restaurant, exceptional food, and an atmosphere that makes it perfect for a special occasion. We will definitely be coming back for the experience alone.
All the curry has the right flavor. What makes them stand out was the complexity of layers in the flavor. For example, the “Chu Chee” ,which will normally have the richness from coconut milk, the balance of sweet, ness and saltines and a bit of spiciness but no direct sour flavor, has the refreshing flavor afte with a tinge of sourness from the lemongrass which is one of the ingredients of “Chu Chee” curry paste. This is the example of how the master level different from the mediocre one.
All other dishes were at the same standard but the one I mentioned above is just the most distinct example.
The staffs were very attentive. They are happy to describe the dishes.
The atmosphere was superb. I would recommend going there at 5pm and watch the sunset at the table that is on the side of the river.
The staff
The food had that real, authentic Thai taste you can’t find anywhere else. Every dish was so flavourful and beautifully done. I was seriously impressed.
Definitely going back next time I’m home. Highly recommend! ✨
Walking into Suanthip feels like stepping into a quiet riverside garden where time slows down. The leafy grounds, wooden pavilions, and gentle river breeze set the mood long before the first bite arrives. Staff greet you with warm smiles and a refreshing lemongrass drink, and that friendly welcome stays with you through the whole meal.
What Stood Out:
• Authentic, carefully preserved recipes. Dishes draw from royal and regional Thai traditions, prepared with obvious respect for technique and history.
• Beautiful presentation. Each plate and woven tray is arranged with care—fresh herbs, colorful garnishes, and small side condiments that invite you to taste and explore.
• Balanced, bold flavors. Expect a full spectrum: bitter notes from local greens, creamy coconut, bright citrus, and concentrated spice from traditional pastes.
Must-Try Dishes:
• Grilled Shrimp with Neem and Sweet Fish Sauce — smoky, slightly bitter from the neem, and rounded by the sweet-savory dressing; a memorable starter.
• Lotus Petal Miang — delicate, fragrant, and perfectly balanced; the edible lotus makes every bite feel special.
• Suanthip Salad Trio — three distinct salads in one dish: spicy tamarind, crunchy winged bean, and a rich mushroom salad that adds depth.
• Kaeng Khi Lek and Kaeng Bon — traditional curries that showcase careful seasoning; the kaeng bon benefits from resting overnight for the flavors to settle.
• Nam Prik Nakhonban — a punchy, aromatic chili relish with sun-dried fish that pairs beautifully with rice and vegetables.
People & Philosophy:
The kitchen is led by experienced cooks who taste and select ingredients by hand. There’s a clear commitment to no MSG, seasonal produce, and generous use of Thai herbs like galangal and lemongrass. The owners and chefs—rooted in decades of practice—bring both pride and humility to the table, and that care translates into every dish.
Practical Notes:
• Atmosphere: Calm, family-friendly, and ideal for a relaxed riverside meal.
• Service: Warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu.
• Why go: For a genuine, lovingly prepared Thai meal that feels both traditional and celebratory.

The staff members are exceedingly polite and provide excellent service.
The traditional Thai cuisine is absolutely wonderful.
I would highly recommend the “Kratong-thong” appetizer.
The main courses are exceptionally flavorful and well-balanced, without being overly spicy.
Furthermore, the ice cream for dessert is incredibly delicious.
