Very yummy catfish and chicken tenders and greens. Spice level was perfect and the catfish was cooked to perfect with a lovely breading that was crispy and seasoned well! Chicken tenders were also breaded and seasoned so well and they were massive!

We have done both dine-in and take out. The shrimp and catfish are pretty fresh, no fishy odors here. Dine-in benefit is you get your fried food fresh and crisp, but seating is limited to maybe 2-3 groups of two. The take-out container is thoughtfully vented on top, but if you really want it extra crispy, you may want to open it up a bit before you get in your car and drive (we live 10-20 min drive away depending on traffic and even if it loses crispiness, for the most part it doesnt get super soggy except for some few sitting in grease.) Be sure to grab utensils and napkins if you need since its not placed in the plastic bag.
If huge portions is what you’re after, the fried chicken tenders will do you, but they were a bit thick for us, whole chicken breast pieces, and since they are fresh they will release water/steam and get a soggy bottom and top, so not as crispy as shrimp and catfish.
Good to know: the gumbo side comes with rice already mixed in, kind of like a jambalaya.
They have different sauces, and if you really want/love sauce, check and ask for extra, they will give you more (i.e. one time we found 1 ketchup 1 cocktail and another time 2 cocktail sauce, no ketchup which was fine with us, our orders were the same).
While the to-go pics show loads of oil, we dont think its worse than fried food at Fisherman’s market / Newman’s, where we also blot and degrease before digging in. Compared to the beer garden fried catfish /shrimp, it depends, so try both and see what u like better. The Cajun seasoning on fries was spotty this last time, but usually a bit more evenly distributed.
No complaints on our previous visits, but will not be returning after our strange unpleasant experience at the tail end of our last visit. Gentleman who brought our takeout was in a surly mood and seemed to be under the impression we had complained about the wait time? (we were busy talking and laughing while we sat/stood there, and do not know why he thought this), when my partner asked for extra tartar (fyi we ordered a catfish basket w cajun fries and shrimp basket and were given 1 tartar which is the norm since catfish comes w cocktail, so we were asking politely! for an extra tartar) he told the cashier to tell us not to come back?! We understand you can be having a bad day, but his behavior was rude and uncalled for.

Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! The soups are amazing the chicken tenders, fried catfish (hands down the best I’ve ever had), the hush puppies the banana pudding the gumbo and the Sunday dinner specials are great. Love the old school music and chatting with new people as I’m waiting for my order.

Edit: Oh my god! Just got our first taste of Sunday dinners and think we found our weekly tradition. Will update this review with additional pictures as we eat different Styr meals!

Original Review: We’ve been wanting to check out Styr for a while now, so when they announced a Thanksgiving deal just while I was stressing about not being able to cook due to a lupus flare we knew the universe had aligned. I only regret not coming sooner! We got three plates for the two of us to ensure we had leftovers. This is some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Might have to start coming once a week. If you’re reading this today, Thanksgiving 2025, you should go grab a plate before they sell out. Even if you’re cooking today I really don’t think you’d regret it. It’s an amazing spread! The Mac and cheese is perfect. It somehow has every yummy texture a cheese can have in one Mac and Cheese. The banana pudding is absolutely heavenly. I melted when I tried the first bite. The people who cooked this food are artists!

Stry Kitchen is one of those places that gets it just right. Their Cajun catfish is the standout—perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with that deep, soulful Cajun flavor that feels like it came straight out of a family kitchen. Every bite is comforting and familiar, the kind of food that instantly makes you feel at home.

What really sets Stry Kitchen apart, though, is the balance. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, like your favorite hometown spot, but the service and presentation are polished and professional. You get that home-cooked feeling without losing the quality and care of a top-tier kitchen. It’s comfort food done right, and the Cajun catfish alone is reason enough to keep coming back.

Five stars isn’t enough! The food here is 100% authentic and every dish we tried was outstanding. The shrimp were absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection.
The sides are the real deal, too: the collard greens with the smoked ham hock were out of this world, and the red beans and rice are a must-try (nearly the best I’ve ever eaten!) You can really taste the difference in their homemade hush puppies—no grocery store box mixes here. We will definitely be back!

This is my 3rd time here. The past 2 have been great fresh food. However today not so. The collard greens were to hard n over ran by the spicy season. Po boy shrimp was good but spicy even though I asked for not. The potato salad was dry n tasted old. Even hush puppies had a not fresh flavor. The banana pudding did not let me down. Will I go back? Maybe. Definitely won’t spend $40.

Had the Catfish plate. Best I have had since being stationed in North Carolina. Tasted super fresh and had a nice crunch with a pleasant zesty Cajun bite. My son & daughter even loved it, having never tried catfish before. As of 9/28/2025 me and my son have eaten here 8 times in the last 7 months, twice sice June. Can’t get past the catfish. My son constantly only wants to eat the fish as do I. Today (9/28/2025) we ate their homemade banana pudding and their special “Southern style black eyed peas w/ bacon & trinity over rice with corn bread and honey”. DELICIOUS

I got the shrimp and fries and I was blown away! The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and it had a little kick to it that was JUST right!
