New remodeled, great menu. Interior was amazing. Big bar sitting area, and live music. We ordered a burger, cooked exactly as ordered with garlic fries, pulled pork with onion rings, kids Mac n cheese and fries, and choice of meat (we chose chicken) side was salad. Everything was delicious! Added some more BBQ sauce to the pulled pork because I love sauce – lol! Only thing was the choice of meat and we received a small square of chicken. Definelty would have thought we would have a leg, thigh combo or chunk of meat. But it was a small square piece of chicken on a plate.

Great spot in Cool to stop for a bite to eat. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong about the food, albeit slightly lacking robust flavor, but the amount of food vs price seemed out of balance. Most of us that visited when we did still left hungry after ordering breakfast, and at nearly $20 a person I feel that shouldn’t be the case. Service was odd too as it took until after getting our food and having to ask that we all got our silverware. It wasn’t particularly busy the day we visited, so I’m not sure what happened, but I chalk it up to a one-off encounter. Maybe I’ll be back to see if there are improvements later, but overall it was an average visit.

First, Stubby’s has completely remodeled. And I don’t mean just cosmetic, but full-on, professional, detailed remodel. I am not a contractor, but I do pay attention to detail; this remodel is 100% completed in such a way as to make all patrons feel like they are visiting ANY quality hometown restaurant. KUDOS to Brett and Ariel for their vision.

Second, props to Tanya for her managing the front end. She handled a very busy night effortlessly, and you can tell she is enjoying her position with great care and positivity. She is a very valued member of the Stubby’s team.

Finally, props to Chris who manages the kitchen. Tuesday is prime rib night, and we are SOOOOO missed prime rib up in the divide since The Divide in Georgetown retired. The prime rib was ‘chef’s kiss!’ It was perfectly paired with a baked potato and exceptionally seasoned zucchini squash. My only advice would be to offer creamy horseradish along with straight horseradish. Other than that, the meal was superb!

Stubby’s now offers an exciting selection of local beers and wine and now has an open bar for mixed drinks. Our local town has longed to the opportunity for classy dining experience; Stubby’s has answered that call, finally!

Had some out of town guests visiting and we gave Stubby’s a try. Everyone was impressed with the food and the service. Good drinks too. Not expensive either. Well executed.

I ordered 2 Bulls (3 meat with 1 side) to go last night over the phone. I looked at the menu on this app. The price according to menu on this app for each meal was supposed to be $18. When I arrived, each meal was $28 + a $6 up-charge for tri-tip. I know smoked meat can be costly to make. But, $34 for chewy, tough brisket and tri-tip is disappointing. The pork butt was tasty; only highlight of the meal.
We wanted to try 3 sides.
Mac & cheese was grainy, not creamy. Beans seemed like out of a can doctored up with bacon? The coleslaw was warm, container 2/3 filled and dry. My wife and i were hoping the price would yield a great meal. Is this a struggling restaurant or just an off night…?

Bad first experience, but I will give them a second chance. They were busy in there and that’s understandable. After we got sat we weren’t acknowledged by anyone for about 20 minutes, including the owners. The owners sat at the bar having a drink while we waited for someone to say hi to us. Then finally we got our drink order; 15 minutes later the waitress took our food order. When my steak bites came out it was suppose to come with a peppercorn sauce because they were out of the normal sauce that goes on it. I was fine with that until my steak bites came out with sausage/bacon country breakfast gravy on it. Not sure what happened. Hopefully my second time there will be a charm.

Thank God Stubby’s has come to Cool! Whether you live on the Divide, Auburn or even Folsom, come to Stubby’s! The food here is incredible. Everything is handmade and cooked by the owner, Chris, and Tina is the best server!

The atmosphere is laid-back and very friendly. Very cozy. This has quickly become our home away from home!

What a fantastic restaurant!
We were visiting friends this week, and for breakfast they insisted that we go to Stubby’s. I was very happy that they did. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive, and the new owner, John, even came out to greet us and find out if we enjoyed our meals. I had the Hot Mess and a side biscuit with gravy. This was some of the best food I have had the pleasure of consuming. The gravy was perfect and the biscuit was probably one of the best I have ever had. The Hot Mess was also exceptional. We sat at their outside patio to enjoy the wonderful weather and I will definitely be returning to when we are in Cool again.
*** Shout out to the new owner, Chris, for running such a fantastic restaurant and cooking such phenomenal dishes.
