Longstanding eatery offering BBQ pork, ribs & chicken, plus smoked brisket.

We have done several BCA bbq competitions as judges. And when I tell you, the ribs and chicken here could pla e easily in the top 5. The chicken was smoked to perfection. The breast meat was very moist and tender and not overly seasoned. The ribs had just enough bite to not fall off bone, but good enough to still have to chew. The seasoning was light, but very flavorful. Not taking from the brisket or sausages, which were tasty as well. But the stars of the platter was definitely the chicken and ribs. Also, if youre a fan of brussel spouts, their pecan bourbon spouts are . Absolutely no complaints. We got the 4 meat platter with 3 sides (got spouts for $1 more). 2 breads and 2 desserts for under $55. And we were in need of a driver home….stuffed to the brim. If youre in hattiesburg or close enough, stop in. Plenty of seating, delightful staff and amazing food.

I found this spot in Hattiesburg and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I got ribs, brisket, baked beans with turnip greens, and cornbread. The ribs were alright, just needed a bit more spice. The BBQ sauce helped them out a bit. I always try ribs plain first to see how good they really are. If they’re good without sauce, you know the cook’s got skills. The brisket was a little dry, but not bad. It didn’t have much flavor, but like the ribs, the BBQ sauce saved it. The turnip greens, baked beans, and cornbread? Not so great. All three were pretty bland. If you’re in Hattiesburg, you should check it out. You may like it better than me.

Update: After living in Texas, it’s been hard to find truly good BBQ—but we’re so glad we found this place! The photos don’t do it justice because, honestly, we couldn’t wait and had already dug in.
The ribs fall right off the bone, and we decided to try the wings today—absolutely out of this world. On top of that, the staff is super friendly. Highly recommend!

Strick’s Barbecue in Hattiesburg did not disappoint! I had the smoked chicken plate with fried okra, jalapeño cornbread, and baked beans. Everything was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. That chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the fried okra was crispy and golden (not soggy like some places). The cornbread had a nice kick and the baked beans were sweet and hearty.
My son’s pulled pork nachos were insane!!! Loaded and drenched in BBQ sauce and cheese. Definitely big enough to share … not that he wanted to! My husband went with the meat feast and was just as impressed! Tons of food, and all of it tasty.
Portions were generous, prices were great, and the service was fast and friendly. The rustic vibe inside added to the whole Southern BBQ experience. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Strick’s is so delicious the brisket and pulled pork are yummy. The ice tea is like a dose of southern hospitality. I highly recommend the banana wafer pudding too!

The 2 meat platter was amazing. Best crinkle cut fries ever and quite a lot of it. The beef brisket barbecue was juice and tender. The chicken was also good but not that good. The potato salad was phenomenal (all potato salads are).

First time here – loved the atmosphere- was slightly disappointed. Wasnt that hungry for lunch and so I thought I ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with a dollop of coleslaw and a side of beans. What I got was a brisket platter disguised as a sandwich. Points off for the fact I had to remove some meat so I could eat it as a sandwich. The amount of coleslaw was basically a ‘side’ of slaw. The brisket bark was terrific and the slices were moist an tender. Didn’t need a lot BBQ sauce if any. All Very Tasty. I was forced to eat more than I wanted. My buddy got the brisket platter, fried okra i tried was terrific. We shall return.

Read the reviews and I saw they were mixed, so I wanted to try it myself. We had the 3 meat platter choosing ribs, pulled pork, and brisket, along with 2 sides and drinks.
We ordered immediately and the food arrived within a few minutes. I love barbecue, and Stricks did not disappoint. The ribs were tender but not overcooked, very flavorful and didn’t require sauce, though I did try some. The brisket was also very flavorful, with just enough fat to add some flavor, it had obviously been trimmed correctly. Melted in your mouth. The pulled pork was also very good, tender yet firm, not soupy or greasy like you often find.
We tried the strawberry lemonade, but it was very sweet, our only miss of the meal. Sauces were good, but I didn’t use much as it really wasn’t needed. Will definitely give it another visit in the future as the meal was $30.00 total before tip. The waitress was attentive and thought to bring an extra plate for us to share. The fries were seasoned and served hot, the baked beans were good too, but I have had better.
