Real country cooking and generous portions. Huge biscuits and thick meaty gravy, alongside eggs, bacon and country ham. And don’t forget a bowl of buttery grits. This was cooking just like at Grandma’s house. Breakfast done country style.

I’ve lived in the area basically my whole life and today my wife and I decided to stop in and it’s the best choice of the day. The coffee was hot, fresh, and oh so delicious. I love a good over medium egg and it seems most establishments cant make one now a day. Not Stricklands. My over medium egg was cooked to perfection and paired so well with the homemade Biscuits. The bacon was good quality bacon and the sausage was just as good. I was very overwhelmed with the day itself and the workers were so sweet and helped walk me through how to order and really helped put a smile on my face. The only complaint I have is my stomach wasn’t big enough. 100/10 do recommend on all accounts. Food, service, and atmosphere were awesome. I can see why they are Athens oldest restaurant. If you have been thinking of giving it a try please do and support a local family owned business!! Until next time Stricklands! Thank you for turning my day around with a great experience!

First timer here! It was lunch time and I got fried pork chop, green beans, rice and gravy and 2 cornbread muffins. Delicious! Super friendly staff that made me feel like home. I noticed there were a lot of regulars which is always a great sign. Thank you for a great experience! Can’t wait to come back again! 🙂

Strickland’s is such a cozy country restaurant! Mr. Strickland and his son are both so kind and truly show southern hospitality when you come through the door. The classic southern food was absolutely delicious and homemade. You can’t find better banana pudding either. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Ate at your restaurant 2/26/26 between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Tried eating a piece of rib meat which was tough to chew. Cream potatoes were great, but the potato salad would’ve been great without the celery in it. Pleasant atmosphere, give you that. Might be good for someone else, however.

I’m not a big cafeteria style meal person, but this local joint fills a void of quick, southern, low cost meals. Food could use some seasonings but that’s cafeteria food. Staff is friendly. Seating area is open and appears to be a favorite with contractors and locals. Great meeting place for groups to meet. Parking is adequate but you will have to go to the rear of the restaurant.

If you want a real southern breakfast or lunch this is a good place to good. Food is always amazing and good size portions for what you pay. Staff is always polite and respectful and the restaurant is always full and clean.

The scrambled eggs looked like runny cottage cheese. The bacon was tasteless burnt and chewy. The over easy The over easy eggs were over hard with lace. The biscuits were flat and the gravy was tasteless sort of paste like. The pork chops tasted like they were made in a laboratory. Their homemade sausage tasted like it was genetically modified with biohazard ingredients. The staff were not very friendly and really didn’t want to be there. It was the best worst food I have ever had in Athens.

The food here had a wonderful taste and they are generous with their portions. They close at 2 o’clock and today I got there at 1:30. Almost all of my food was cold. Cold okra, cold fried chicken livers, and cold sweet potato soufflé… I took a few bites of everything and I ate all of the field peas which were warm. I packed up the rest of the food to go. Hopefully I can successfully heat up the okra and the fried chicken livers either in my oven or in my air fryer. I’m sure I can heat up the sweet potato soufflé in the microwave. I will go back one day and give them another try. Like I said, the taste of my food was good and the restaurant was very generous with their portions. In addition, the personnel who worked there seemed to really like each other and were very positive and pleasant. I will definitely get there a lot earlier next time in hopes that my food will be hot.
