As a long time downtown Shreveport resident, I love to support neighborhood businesses. As someone who values honesty when I review local businesses, sometimes I have to leave a really bad review. Keep in mind, most of my reviews are positive.

Saturday Night, Oct 11th about half past 10pm I stopped in for a diet soda. I was served in a small styrophome cup filled with ice and probably about four ounces of diet soda from the well fountain, and the taste was of a dirty fountain head that was in need of some cleaning. The bartender was not very welcoming. Not a hello nor pleasant greeting. He wasn’t abrasive, but he really had no warmth, so to speak. He asked for my ID(btw, I am aware 53 year old man, but I didn’t mind showing my state ID – but come on…I’m way past my high school years – I’ve been to Stay Cat several times, but okay, whatever)
What I take issue with the most, and the reason for my low rating is this bartender having the nerve to run my card to the amount of FOUR Dollars for about four ounces of soda from a dirty nozzle.

I love to support local businesses, as I’ve said, but I cannot abide this unchivalrous treatment of downtown residents. For four dollars, clean your fountain tips thoroughly and put the soda in an actual glass. A tall one worthy of a four dollar bill of fare. Maybe have your bartender give a little bit of hospitality, a little bit of “How is your evening going?” would go a long way.

Then again, maybe Stray Cat is so great that it doesn’t need to care about making the butter stick to the bread.

In any case, I will be going somewhere else after the close of PrizeFest. Stray Cat was my tradition. Another venue, one that feels welcoming, will suit me better.

Always a pleasure with this neighborhood bar!!! They consider us family at this point!! Lee is an amazing bartender and all the patrons are kind and amazing. The drinks are on point and a healthy pour. Amy has worked her over 17 years and Lee is hands down the best!!
Restroom are snug but clean, Remington hotel is next door so a plus on booking a room.
Checkout Lee and Amy, let them know Louis and Tammy sent you!
One of the tops featured in @SB magazine!! Congrats!!!!

Small place with an easy feel about it in downtown Shreveport. Easy walking distance to several other places for people wanting to roam around. Pretty good selection of popular beer include a couple of Abita beer options. Obviously they also carry your mainstream non local options as well. Not a bad place to have a drink and a conversation without having to scream to hear yourself talk or hear the other person talk. Would recommend it to someone looking to grab a quick drink. Did not have any food so can’t speak to it.

Everyone I asked says the Stray Cat is the best bar in Shreveport. There is a cool patio and a hopping late night scene.

Stray Cats is the best no fuss bar in Shreveport. Great atmosphere, great selection of spirits and beers, and a fantastic back courtyard it makes you feel like you’re in a secret bar in the French quarter.

Really disappointed. Made a stop specifically for this place because the ambiance looked great and the menu looked like it had good variety. Drove over 7 hours on a road trip, paid $10 for parking, and then I had to walk around to find an employee. When I asked if I could please order dinner, he said that they only serve pizza and nothing else. There were probably three guests there in total and the Internet updated to show that the place was “the busiest it gets” at the moment.

Really good Ramen. When I’m doing just go for the Yakamein or Chiken Shoyu.

The bar itself is cool enough and relaxing like others have said. The bar top is a cool roughed up copper tacked down with nails, giving it a really nice feel. Beer selection was fine considering the size of the place. Beer was served cold and was asked if I wanted a glass. Service was poor. Even with 6-8 of us in the whole place the bartender stayed at the other side of the bar talking and rarely came down to the other side. Even when the backup bartender came in he was not that much better. The place has a lot of potential and I would even go back to give them another chance…they just need to step it up a notch.
PS. The pizza is really not that good. It is like a Red Baron pizza heated up in a small oven next to the bar!
