My hubby and I had dessert at Strachan’s after eating at a local Safety Harbor restaurant. It was a little busy but the line was moved quickly. The staff was very friendly and offered us samples to try. We already knew what we wanted to order: small vanilla with a chocolate cup & a black cherry cup. Both were delicious and hit the spot!

The ice cream and treats are absolutely fabulous. But the reason I’m especially drawn to Strachan’s is for the orange and vanilla soft serve twist ice cream. The now-closed Sungrove’s did it best – but now that they are closed – I go to Strachan’s for it. Their orange swirl tastes delicious – but the texture is off. The orange has a crunchy texture – it is not smooth like Sungrove’s. I’d like to gently suggest to the owners to please make their swirl machine to be a colder temperature and faster speed to ensure the orange is how it’s meant to be – and both the orange and vanilla can be creamy.

Went on Sunday with my husband, mother in law and niece… ice cream was a 10/10 but we left rather salty because of “Susan” (her name was stated on the receipt.) She didnt greet us, made us wait (we were the only ones in the store) and was just downright rude. A little customer service goes a long way. “One scoop? Or 2 scoops?” … my answer should have been none and we should have gone down the street to Coldstone.

Very good with lots of flavor variety. I love that the small is small but enough to fill a little kiddo . Lots of other sweets and sodas, water, etc. there were 3 tables inside today. Pictures courtesy of the little kiddos. Cute shop.

There are two choices for ice cream near our hotel and decided to support the small business instead of the chain and I’m so glad we did. It was a muggy day so the air conditioning was very welcome to begin with! I had the Oreo Heath Caramel Crunch because they said it was one of their top flavors – and now I know why! It was delicious. My husband had a cherry ice cream that he loved also. One of the best parts was the waffle cone I had with mine. I love a good waffle cone and this was the best one I’ve ever had!! It was thin, had a nice crunch and a hint of cinnamon – so good! Can’t wait to go back again on our next trip to Safety Harbor!

Excellent ice cream and service. The building is also nice and chilly. Which, if you’re dipping into an ice cream shop, you’re there for something cold. Much better than the nearby cold stone. Their fudge is also really good.

Always love local and homemade ice cream. We were in town for spring training baseball and joined some friends who live locally for dinner in the area. Afterwards they took us here as it’s their favorite ice cream shop. We tried some of their flavors and agree it’s good stuff. I had The Boss which is a vanilla base with brownies and peanut butter and my wife had pistachio. Lots of other interesting flavors. Definitely recommend!!

Strachan’s Ice Cream delivers a perfectly good scoop; creamy, classic, and dependable. It hits the sweet spot, just not the wow factor. Service is friendly and runs like clockwork.
Still, for the price, it feels a little indulgent for something that doesn’t quite sweep you off your feet.
For that same splurge, I’d rather grab a pint of Häagen-Dazs, dim the lights, press play on a good movie, and enjoy every spoonful from the comfort of my couch.
