We tried this place for dinner tonight and overall had a really great experience! We showed up a little after opening and had to wait about 40 minutes for a table. We sat outside which was a really great vibe. Cute picnic tables and nice background jazz music playing. We ordered the focaccia bread, the Brooklyner and Johnny za za. The focaccia came out really quick, was soft with a crunchy outside and delicious. The pizzas were also both delicious. The crust thin and crispy. The cheese and toppings were super fresh. The only reason we deducted a star is because the pizza ended up getting cold very quickly, and we wish it just had a little bit more flavor overall.

My husband and I just moved to the area and have been exploring restaurants nearby. Pretty sure we just found our new favorite pizza spot!! Stracci pizza is sooo good! I think the crust is what makes it special. We look forward to trying other dishes here but will definitely be back for more pizza!!

Located in the Del Ray neighborhood in Alexandria, Va the establishment is located on a side street that is intertwined between local businesses and private homes.

The crowd came early to grab a seat at this restaurant and based on the dishes coming out of the kitchen people were beyond excited to indulge in the Roman style pizza.

The deal breaker for me is the marinara sauce and this one was evenly balanced with Italian spices. It was so delicious that I ordered dipping sauce on the side.

This is what I order:

– Chicken Liver Mousse
– The Stracci Pizza w/ anchovies
– The Brooklyner Pizza
– Blood Orange Soda
– Flea Beer

Easily the best pizza in the DMV. Their brooklyner pizza lives rent free in my head. Their cocktails and desserts are also delicious. Do not hesitate on getting the meatballs, you won’t regret it.

People are lining up before 5pm, even at the scorching hot day like today. We knew that’s a good sign. The pizza is exceptional, the appetizers are refreshing, what a satisfying meal at this off the path location!

Best pizza place in Alexandria. Pies are delicious, I’ve more often had take out from here and love the Three Cheese & Chovy. Came by finally to dine and the cocktails and tiramisu are delish! Very busy here, so I recommend making a reservation in advance or grabbing takeout!

Food was delicious and the seasonal specialties are the way to go here. Crust is on point and perfectly baked. The pesto pie was the best slice I’ve had so far in the DMV. An immaculate combination of flavors. Seems silly to order bread as an appetizer before pizza but order some alongside the heirloom tomato salad. One pizza is more than enough for two to share.

We did not have seating issues and sat outside nearly immediately. Inside looked..busy to put it nicely. Cramped and I’m glad we had a mild July evening to enjoy our meal on the patio.

Cocktail prices are in line with the rest of the region and while they are nothing more than simple classics, they are well crafted and presented with tasteful garnishes. As much as I enjoy amaro before a meal, the pour prices were laughable for the limited selection. I’d only suggest to stock more Don Ciccio!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a favorite restaurant the way Stracci is my favorite restaurant. I’ve spent some time trying to figure out why. I think they must bake their amazing pizza crust almost without any toppings and then add any number of delicious fresh or baked ingredients on top before finishing it for a few minutes in a hot oven. This is my theory at least. The result is an amazingly fresh and lively tasting pizza with an unbelievably chewy and flavorful baked crust. It is quite different from most other pizza I’ve had in that their dough has lots of delicious chewy air pockets and a solidly crusty exterior, while the ingredients on top are wet and fresh and delicious. Their dough is also the best I’ve ever had in terms of flavor. I often find myself savoring every bite and staring at the wall semi-comatose, simply being thankful for the life I have that contains such amazing food. While I haven’t loved every single pizza they cook (though I’ve liked them all), and sometimes wish there were more red sauce pizzas, I think about Stracci most mornings after, running through the experience of eating the pizza as I lay in bed not wanting to get up to face the day. Some of their other dishes are great too (notably their tiramisu with its little crunchy chocolate pearls), but I always focus on the pizza. The drinks are great, the prices are incredibly reasonable, the atmosphere is of a warm neighborhood joint. I dont think there is a single think I dislike about Stracci. They don’t take reservations in general (except for large parties), so it is also possible to just show up and wait for a table—and you can wait in their little outdoor tent with a delicious amaro cocktail and the unbelievable focaccia so even that is a pleasure. I find it impossible to believe that anyone could be disappointed after a visit to Stracci. I’m just glad they are in my neighborhood and hope the magic lasts.

I came here over the weekend with some friends. The ambience was amazing, very festive and cozy. Dinner did require reservations. Would not suggest waiting at the restaurant as there is limited lobby space. Overall the food was beyond phenomenal. The focaccia for starters were baked to perfection. We ordered the limited time Mushroom Truffle Pizza, it was 10/10. The flavors were Zesty and the dough was fresh. One of the best authentic Italian pizza’s I had in a while. Definitely recommend this spot, it’s now a part of my seasonal rotations of go to restaurants to eat at.

Nice restaurant
Bad service And annoying
Pizza is basically a crispy bottom somewhat fluffy middle. Lacks on meat and cheese is cold cheese more like a cream. 6/10 pizza at best. Honestly dominoes tastes better. I would not go back. Came to town for 2 days and wasted it here
