We enjoyed everything about our visit. Bartender was friendly, waitress was great, food was excellent. If you’re in a hurry, don’t go here because it’s a wonderful atmosphere with old-timey charm and it is meant to be enjoyed, not rushed through. You get excellent Clam chowder and a salad – both served community style as you wait for your entree. It was our first time to visit and it won’t be our last!

One of our close friends recommended Stormy’s. We have never been there before, so our expectations were pretty high. Sadly, it turned out to be disappointing.
When we arrived, we were greeted by our waitress. At first, she seemed nice. She introduced herself and told us she was the owner’s daughter. We thought it was great that she was helping with her family’s business. Then we chose what we were going to eat and that’s where everything took a wrong turn.
My husband ordered “The king of steaks”, which was rib-eye, and I got the prime rib. We also got clam chowder and a salad to share.
When our waitress brought the soup, she spilled some on the table. That was totally fine, it happens. But later, when she served the steaks, my husband’s steak looked very overcooked. We asked her to remake it, and she took it back to the kitchen. When she came back, she said she won’t charge us for it but claimed that under the kitchen lights, it was definitely medium rare. That caught us off guard, because the steak was so overcooked and it was incredibly charred on the outside. On top of that, it was completely unseasoned.
My prime rib was also overcooked, closer to medium well than medium rare, so I just gave my piece to my husband and stuck to the soup. The clam chowder was okay, just average. The salad, however, was terrible. The veggies didn’t look fresh, and the overall presentation was very unappetizing.
Our biggest issue was with the service. As soon as we told our waitress we were not happy with the meat, she became dismissive and spoke to us with an attitude, or ignored us completely.
The restaurant is very overpriced for the quality and quantity of food.
One last thing worth mentioning is that my husband wore beige shorts, and when we left the restaurant, I noticed stains on the back of his shorts, most likely from the chairs.
We won’t be back.

Update after owner’s response:

I see that the owner responded below, but unfortunately, the reply only proves the exact attitude problem we experienced during our visit. Instead of taking constructive criticism, they chose to be defensive and belittling. For clarification: yes, I do know what medium rare is, and my husband’s ribeye was nowhere near that.
Plus, taking something off the bill does not excuse poor service or food that was overcooked, unseasoned, and overpriced.
As for the soup spill – accidents happen, and I even said it was fine. But the fact that the owner dismissed me bringing it up as “trivial and sad” shows how little regard they have for the overall dining experience. Professional businesses typically listen to feedback, not attack customers for sharing their experience.
This response alone makes it clear why we will not be returning. I wish the restaurant the best of luck moving forward, and hopefully, they can learn to take customer feedback with more professionalism.

Just got back from Mendocino and took the scenic drive down Highway 1 — absolutely worth it for this amazing steakhouse. The prime rib was incredibly tender, with top-quality beef — truly one of the best prime ribs I’ve ever had. The vegetables were fresh, and the soup was flavorful and comforting. Both the soup and salad were included with the meal, which was a nice touch. Portions were very generous, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. This is a long-standing, family-owned gem with real heart. Highly recommend!

Step back in time for an authentic feel of yesteryear. 1850s built, one of the many stagecoach stops in Northern California. Great food. Delightful owners cook, serve, and bartender.

I would give them one star, but have too many fond memories there. This place was just down the road while growing up. Back in the day, it was hard to get in this place and the food was spectacular. We had my mom’s 80th birthday celebration there recently. On a Friday night, other than a few people at the bar, we were the only group there. The only one out of our group of 13 that said her food was good had a corn dog. They didn’t have any steak. The prime rib was tough as leather. Sorry owners… you’re riding on Stormys Coattails. You have a good thing going and you are at risk of running it into the ground if you don’t shape up. And clean up outside; the deck is looking sad and covered with spiderwebs.

Great little spot ended up stopping in, you could smell the prime rib a mile away. The bartender, she was amazing great personality! We ended up getting some drinks. Having a good time. We never got the prime rib. Sadly we had to return to a wedding. But if I ever find myself this direction again sure as hell bet I will get my prime rib.

We have loved dining at Stormy’s for years, and always enjoy taking loved ones here for celebrations. Wonderful ambiance with big fireplace and old school vintage items for decor. Roger, Carolyn, daughter Taylor and son in law Fabio always cook/serve amazing food and are very welcoming and accommodating to us. The rib eye steak is the BEST we’ve had in Sonoma County!

Atmosphere was great, we sat by the fireplace with a fire going. Had a couple of drinks from the bar, very generous pours. Then for the main event, 22 oz prime rib dinner cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend Stormy’s if you are looking for a special night out
