Our dinner at Stories at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines was easily the highlight of our stay, and we are already counting down the days until we can return.
From the moment we sat down, Julio took incredible care of us. His energy was infectious, and his friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. He is remarkably knowledgeable about the menu—his recommendations were spot-on and elevated our entire experience.
The food was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. We sampled a bit of everything, and every single dish was a “wow” moment:
• The Bread & Butter: Simple perfection and the best way to start.
• Salad & Soup: Fresh, vibrant, and packed with high-quality ingredients.
• The Steak: Cooked to absolute perfection with deep, rich flavor.
• Dessert & Wine: The perfect finishing touch to a flawless meal.
You can tell the kitchen team puts immense thought into the creative presentation and flavor profiles. If you’re looking for a meal that combines top-tier ingredients with a bit of culinary wit and soulful service, this is it.
Ask for Julio—he’s a rockstar!

Wow! Talk about exceptional food in Bastrop! A well hidden gem for locals if you’re wanting a high end meal, and a dang good steak! Our server will was so patient with our party and really cared about our experience. You can tell the chef really cared about the presentation of the dishes, and seeing him touching tables to ensure the food was great. Highly recommend the Snapper with the pumpkin risotto, the beet root carpaccio was gorgeous and refreshing.

Lost pines really hit it out the park with this fall menu!

14 years ago we celebrated our wedding and started our married life at a previous iteration of this restaurant at the Hyatt Lost Pines. This year we happened to be close so we made a special effort to come back to the restaurant and celebrate our anniversary at the restaurant.
We are so glad we did. We were made very welcome and really enjoyed our meal.
The restaurant tables and chairs are very comfortable, but an uncommon problem in most restaurants was that the table for two was quite large and it was difficult to talk across the table. Fortunately our very nice server, who I think was called Kelby, proposed turning the table 90 degrees so we could both sit on the same side. A perfect solution.
Kelby also suggested sharing dishes on the menu and that worked perfectly for us. We started our sharing with an appetizer called The Slice, which was half an iceberg lettuce with a delicious cheese sauce, two halves of a hard blood egg and cherry tomatoes.
We continued our sharing with crab cakes then completed our sharing with a Porterhouse steak for 2 accompanied by fall vegetables and smashed potatoes. All were washed down by generous portions of Scattered Peaks sauvignon blanc and J Lohr Hilltop Cabernet.
It was a delightful meal, we enjoyed our visit to Stories restaurant at the Hyatt Lost Pines a lot.
Thank you also to the valet parking at the hotel front door who looked after our car.

Dined here for the first time while staying at the Lost Pines Hyatt. Steak was decent. Nothing like my favorite steakhouses in Houston. The steak came with the potatoes and I got wild rice instead of the asparagus. The potatoes were horrific. Wild rice was mehhh. Kids got the chicken dish and they both disliked it. Only positive thing was that the service was excellent. Our waiter was awesome!

The place is great for family dinning. The food is great, not a big menu but you will enjoy what they offer. We were a party of four (2 adults and 2 kids) and ended up paying $200. Mix of Texan and seafood. We tried soup, Halibut, Seared Ahi Tuna, Filet Mignon, and Grilled Salmon. For dessert do try their apple pie and dirt cake. The vibe is old country mix with contemporary. The service is great and attentive. Our server Ian gave us great recommendations.

Overall this was an “adequate” place for dinner. I was slightly disappointed for this to be the high end dining experience.

Will, our server, was INCREDIBLE. We had the butternut squash soup (A+), a half dozen oysters (B-), scallop appetizers (F), ribeye steak (B-), broccolini (B), Yukon mashed potatoes (A+), and GF chocolate cake dessert (B+).

Overall enjoyed the dinner, the interior and decor of the restaurant is very poorly done, could be way elevated with some love and care.

Michael was a fantastic server and knew the menu inside and out. The staff were extremely accommodating with our request to move outside, since inside was too loud for us. But the porch was lovely – just be aware that the heaters are strong! The amuse-Bouche was tasty, as were the cocktails. The squash bisque was on point, and the winter salad was gorgeous. My husband loved his steak, but honestly, the snapper was underwhelming. The pear dessert was refreshing, but the chocolate cake was a little much for me personally.

What a wonderful experience. The service, the wine, the food, all five stars. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was attentive and abundantly friendly, and the rest of the staff, including the manager were all incredible and making sure we were happy each step of the way. So far, my favorite fine dining spot in Austin.

Amazing food. Celebrated a birthday here and we loved our server, and the food. The kitchen is open to the dining area so you can see them cooking your meal. Very laid back, peaceful atmosphere.

My family’s experience was just wonderful. Our server was so helpful and even though the menu was brand new he was able to help us find what we wanted. The chef came and spoke with us about the menu as well and was so friendly and delightful. He even brought our kids a “secret stash” of gummy worms which that just about made their day. The food presentation was beautiful and my fish i had was cooked to perfection. My husband had the waygu steak and it melted in your mouth. So the food was amazing but the service is really what makes it a 10 out 10 experience. Cant wait to go again.
