We absolutely love this place! We had dinner with family the other night and couldn’t have been more pleased with everything. We’ve been here before and always have a good experience. The atmosphere is amazing. We love the low lighting and intimate setting. Our server was prompt and attentive to us the entire time. The food itself was outstanding. We will definitely return!

OK place for dinner. The seafood pasta dish was nice, however, it only had 4 medium sized shrimp! The ahi tuna was very good. The noise level was above normal, which made it difficult to have a normal conversation. Kay was an excellent server. The house salad was boring. The carrot cake was huge enough for 4 people and very tasty, a must! The crème burle was OK. Overall, the pricing is high when compared to the other steakhouses.

From the outside, it seemed pretty dark, and when I walked in, the lighting was very low. There are multiple different streams of light turning in various areas as spotlights to project an ambiance on every table and every wall, then with Candlelight and light decor everywhere. A significant amount of lighting for a lovely romantic evening, also important for a group or crowd of people. I saw many people here in groups and crowds enjoying and having a great time. The servers were very knowledgeable about the menu for the steakhouse, and there were many options. The drink I got had the perfect balance and amazing cherries. When the bread came to the table, there were a few bite-sized pieces with butter, but the taste was so great, which made me want more and more as I tried to hold back waiting for my steak. When my steak came, I felt like the plate was a little lackluster, a steak that looked beautiful with a pile of mashed potatoes. I’d like to see a little more greenery or some sort of garnish off to the side to complete the plate’s presentation. I only say this because the steak was cooked to perfection, everything tasted wonderful, it was very juicy, and I was able to use the seasonings from the steak to make the mashed potatoes taste a little bit better. I was expecting the mashed potatoes to be a bit stronger with a garlic flavor, but overall it was a bit bland. The steak helped with that balance, and overall, I’d say I had an exceptional meal here and would recommend coming back here to anyone who’s looking to try this steakhouse.

I hate to leave a bad review because I used to consider Stoney River one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Louisville.i took my friend out for food & drinks to celebrate her birthday. Order a few appetizers & wine. I ordered my dinner to go. I ordered lamb chops well done. I opened them up to eat the next day and the lamb chops were completely raw! I spent around $200 total and left at $25 tip because the waiter was great. I wish I had checked my food before leaving. I hate to waste money

Stony River steakhouse is always one of my favorites. I love the coffee cured filet and their entrées. Outside of steak are just as delicious. They have been able to keep their prices reasonable while providing great service. I went there recently with a friend of mine, And we both enjoyed our cocktails and entrées. I had the above mentioned coffee cured filet and she had the chicken. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and ordered the vegetables of the day which was cauliflower sautéed. Our appetizer was the Ahi tuna and I thought that was acceptable. It was a more economical grade of tuna, but of course the price reflected it so my expectations were in line. We were the last table in the restaurant, and I really respect the way they did not rush us or turn the lights up and the music off. The Server was very respectful and gave us space while checking on us. Stoney River just gets it. They have been consistent since the day they opened and I see them being here for a long time.

I had high hopes based on the reviews (both online and amongst friends), but walked away fairly disappointed. I’ll go with the good, bad, and the ugly format.
The food carried this place, hats off to the kitchen staff. The whiskey shrimp was so good we asked for a serving of just the sauce for when our steak arrived. I know, that’s blasphemy to dip a nice steak in a sauce, but once you’ve had the sauce you’ll understand. The salad was fresh, balanced, and well-portioned. Most of us at the table ordered the cowboy cut ribeye. Nothing but praise amongst everyone at the table, including myself. Just enough salt and pepper, juicy, great sear, and cooked exactly how I asked. Absolutely delicious!
However, the bread rolls at the start of the meal were brought to us almost cold. They still tasted great, and I bet they would be amazing fresh. I had ordered a Blantons on the rocks, but it came in glass completely full of ice? Should I have asked for a single sphere or cube? I was expecting larger forms of ice so it didn’t dilute the bourbon so quickly. My second drink, a whiskey sour, didn’t fare much better; the waiter asked if I wanted “whiskey with sour in it?” which didn’t inspire confidence. The drink tasted exactly as you’d fear.
Unfortunately, the service really dragged down an otherwise solid meal. Our server seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed, which made the experience feel disorganized and inattentive. We had to repeatedly flag him down to mind him of requests, and his lack of knowledge about the bourbon menu didn’t help. Every time we asked to see the bourbon menu, he had to search the entire restaurant to find it. Was there only one menu in the entire restaurant? By the end, the frustration overshadowed the great food.

This place NEVER disappoints! They always get it right from the food to the service! We celebrated my birthday there this weekend. The entry’s are a good size! My favorite appetizers are the steak rolls, deviled eggs and shrimp cocktail. They have a decent selection of wine and desserts are devine!!
