Hamilton, Ohio is ready for an English Pub, but does the Stone Tavern fill that need, or is it destined to become just another bar?

This is a small corner tavern with fantastic food.. The fish and chips were great. My wife who doesn’t eat fish… Ate half of mine with her shepherds pie.. Shepherds pie is made on site and served in a cast iron pan.. We shared it also…

Had been thinking of trying this little pub out a few times. Decided to pop in for some British food as they advertise. Ordered a special drink that was a vodka and lemonade. It was bland. Went with an Apple cider after that. For food. Decided on the simple one patty cheese burger and fries. It’s supposed to come with tavern sauce and cheese that I asked for. But I got a bun and an unseasoned patty with a hint of shredded lettuce and a slice of tomato. Now i will say that I love the fried potato fries. They are kind of curled and really great. Absolutely tasty. But the burger it was so bland and not worth it. Atmosphere was as basic as it can be for a regular during the week bar. Not a weekend tavern. But only 5 others were there other than myself and the bartender. They started karaoke around 9:30. It was louder than it should have been but they did scale it down after a few songs. By that time I was ready to leave and left kinda hungry. I will give a great review to the bar tender. She was attentive and super nice. So was the owner. He was kind too. Just revisit the menu. You guys will kill it if you do. It’s a cute place. Just needs more flavor.

We checked Stone Tavern out today. Meme was our server/bartender, she was so genuine and sweet. We tried Anna’s pretzel and it was pretty good, the beer cheese, mustard and horseradish cheese dip were so good with it. We also ordered the Shepherds Stones, they were flavorful but slightly underdone on the dough, not to the point of being inedible thankfully. My husband ordered the Patty Melt with fries and it was phenomenal. I ordered the fish and chips, which was decent. Similar to the stones the batter was slightly doughy near the fish, however the fish itself was nice and flaky, the tartar sauce was an interesting take and nice balance to the fish, while the coleslaw would be a hard pass for me in the future. Overall we enjoyed the meal and the will be back to try other things that sounded good on the menu.

We were in the area and decided to give this restaurant a try. It did not disappoint. It was an odd time of the day, so they were pretty dead. Kim was a great server. She was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. My husband loved the Shepard’s pie. My fish and chips were good and the portion size was decent. The surprise was how much I loved the slaw. I am usually picky about slaw, but I ate every last bite of it. One thing I didn’t use but I do appreciate are the hooks for purses under the bar.

We were looking for a yummy place to eat with family in town – and we found the best place! Caitlin was awesome – very attentive and the food was delish!! Umm, the pretzel is a MUST order! The stones, patty melts, rueben, and fish and chips were also tasty and hot, as well. Very clean place, too. Definitely will visit again! Thanks guys for a yummy time and friendly spot.

This is a place worth checking out and is a place worth coming back to! I was very pleased with my food and was left wanting to try everything on the menu. The building’s architecture is beautiful with a very intimate vibe. You have the option to dine in/have drinks inside or relax outside on the patio.

I wanted to love The Stone Tavern. But I was disappointed. From the time I read about it, I was so looking forward to its opening. I was excited about the quintessential British pub atmosphere and food to be had there.

We had visited London a few years back, and to be truthful, we did not experience at Stone Tavern what I had hoped we would. The building from the outside seemed perfect. But once we stepped inside, it was just like any other place one could find anywhere. There were at least six TVs in the small restaurant/bar space. I never saw one TV in any pub in London. I believe pubs are to be places for gathering and comradery. There was not a thing that made me feel I was in a London pub. I didn’t mind the small space. It could have been comfortable and cozy with the right decor.

We shared “hanky pankies” for our appetizer. They were ground beef and sausage with cheese on crisp rye toast points. These were tasty.

I ordered fish and chips. Disappointing. I had never had fish with a tough spot I couldn’t chew, until now. And for the most part, I was tasting uncooked batter inside the crisp outside. The mushy peas were good, but the chips tasted as though they had sat a while before being served.

My husband had the bangers and mash with peas and onion gravy. It was “adequate”.

We had the “warm brown butter cake” for dessert, and that was delicious and the best part of the meal.

The staff was friendly, and I wish I could have given at least four stars, but it just wasn’t what I expected, though there were a couple good food items, but nothing reminiscent of the experience of the British pubs we frequented when in London.

Great lunch spot! My son and I stopped in today for lunch, great service and food. The pretzel was hot and good (even without the dips). Portion sizes were good for both the Shepard’s pie and the lunch special (really liked the grilled cheese on rye). Will be returning to try their other options.

My wife and I enjoyed a date night to the Stone Tavern. She had fish and chips. I had the Stone Tavern burger. We didn’t wait long for the meals to arrive. The meals were very good. The fish is good with the homemade tartar sauce, but I took a few bites with HP Sauce. The burger was dressed and huge! We loved the Stone Tavern and will be coming back!

Very charming, remodeled and comfortable tavern. Our server was friendly and efficient. Our food was very good, hot and more than we expected. I would recommend. Parking in the back was convenient although there was street parking. Check street view on maps for more information.
