This is the BEST place. It is my go to staple. The healthy salmon, cake salad, with sweet potatoes are always i. The menu, fresh and delicious. Their soups are also outrageous. Perfect place to go alone, or for take out for lunch or dinner. They have catered events for me in the past and the food is incredible with large scale where most chefs can fail at this task. Oh, AMAZING desserts too. Better than local bakeries. This is a “hidden gem” Perfect place! Keep up the great work… Never retire. LOL. ❤️

Last Sunday, I celebrated my 70th birthday at home and decided to hire a catering service, knowing I did not want to do the work myself.
I chose Stone Soup, a small street-front food store in Kingston near my location. This business has been in the area for more than 17 years, offering catering services and serving the local community breakfast, lunch, and dinner with healthy and delicious food. Gwenn Sorensen, the owner, and her team deliver magnificent service to our community. She is a very special person, soft, well-spirited, and highly knowledgeable about food. She comes from an Austrian European background, has a refined palate, and provides excellent recommendations to her clients. The chef, Steve, her husband, is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of New York.
I was awe-stricken by the quality and presentation of the food, as well as the excellent service her team delivered. Most of my guests asked who prepared the food, and, obviously, I passed along her information.
I knew, from the first time I met Gwenn — before I even considered hiring her as my caterer — that I would be in good hands because of her professionalism, excellent customer service, pleasant personality, and the food she and her husband cook for the daily customers.
If you need a catering service, do not look further —Stone Soup is your place. I highly recommend this business.

Lots of potential, but the need to make some improvements. Please tidy up the dining area. There is no reason to not wipe down the tables and empty the various garbage and recycling bins. The food is inconsistent. The greens that came with the falafel were excellent, but the falafel balls themselves appeared to be some frozen per made things. The service is inconsistent as well. Sometimes they are nice, and friendly and other times they seem distracted and they barely acknowledge that you are standing in front of them. I’m up that way every few months and I’ve stopped for lunch there with my wife a few times.

Cute spot. Good sandwiches. If you’re looking for really good homemade deli style sandwiches and dishes look no further. Great staff. It did take a bit of time for a takeout order but that’s because they make everything fresh. Try the specials especially the blackened chicken if they have it.

Satisfying filling tasty food with a vegetarian flair. My wife was stuffed with the falafel with quinoa which was unexpectedly light and tasty. My quiche and soup was amazing. You order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. I recommend this place for casual dining.

Not the nicest, or most caring staff in front of house… Ordered a turkey panini on a baguette which was perfect except for the sesame seeds covering it. Not being able to consume seeds, I wish I had seen it on the menu beforehand. They pretty much just shrugged and took more money for another sandwich when I told them I didn’t know it had seeds or want them. I’ll save the original order for later, but I won’t be going back. Lots of other great places in Kingston where they strive to put the customer first!

Ok, I confess, I am a regular here since the food is delicious and nutritious. The salmon is consistently on point and their rubbed kale salad is delicious! Soups are incredible too. My DD loves the GF French dip, which is also always delicious. The real test was in their catering abilities. I had a party of 30 people lat Saturday and their food was outstanding. Their prices are very fair. We ordered a tray of grilled salmon which came with two sauces, grilled chicken with apples, green beans, and sweet potatoes. Everyone raved about the food! The real surprise was the size and presentation of Gwen’s GF cake! Everyone said it was the best chocolate cake that they have EVER had, and it was gluten free! This is THE place to go for lunch, take out meals, and especially catering. We love Stone Soup and we will be back!! Thank you for your hard work, dedication to the quality of your food, and your customer service.
