I moved here 31 years ago from Winchestertonfieldville after my daughter Pammy fell out of Boo Radley’s apple tree. The post office was paying $25 an hour and the home prices were great. I met a few ladies from the Reformed church but they were much too fast for me. I met my wonderful wife at First Baptist (KJV only) and we now have 8 beautiful daughters including my Pammy. We have complete financial freedom and eat at Stinky’s 3 times a week!

Best Fish in Aplington… Slippery, Moist, and Left Me Reeling All Night!
Just moved to town and needed a spot to impress this fine young lady I met at First Reformed Church. Heard about Stinky’s Bar and Grill and figured, why not? Place smelled like victory the second I walked in.
Walked in and the smell hit me like divine intervention. Went straight for the baked cod, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, dripping with that tart(ar sauce) goodness ..much like the rest of my evening.
Took her home to my 8-bedroom palace (snagged it for $95k, Iowa prices, amen!).
Let’s just say after pounding that fish at Stinky’s, I got myself some delicious Stinky seconds… and the way things were going, thirds weren’t off the hook either. Slippery when wet, folks.

Pro tip from your friendly neighborhood mailman: hit Stinky’s on Friday, load up on that all-you-can-eat cod, then tell her you’ve got a “special delivery” waiting at home. Works every time. Neither rain nor sleet nor Febreeze can stop the magic.

Just moved here from Chicago after getting a job at the local post office. The food and service were great. Although I came here alone this time, I will be sure I bring this bird I met in town while delivering. It will be a great place for a first date!

Man! What a good bite! Wrapped up the mail route a bit early today and decided I deserved a supper to myself away from the circus (wife and 7 kids). The food was spectacular. Will be coming back for a date night in the near future!

O Iowa, new land of my exile! By day I toil as a carrier of postal the postal, bent beneath sacks of letters as Atlas beneath the sky, and by night I return to a house ruled by seven howling offspring off the worst order, whose cries pierce deeper than any blade. My spirit, worn thin as a winter field, sought refuge, lest it break.

Then did I enter Stinky Bar & Grill.

There, sustenance came not as food alone, but as salvation. The meat fell upon my plate like a peace treaty after war; the portions mocked famine itself. Each bite stitched together the torn fabric of my resolve. The room roared with mortal life — laughter, clatter, and living breath — reminding me I yet walked among the living.

The servers moved as quiet guardians, averting despair with practiced grace. For a brief, trembling hour, the weight of labor and lineage was lifted from my shoulders.

When I departed, full and restored, I knew this truth: though tomorrow’s burden waits with sharpened teeth, I shall not face it unfed. For Stinky Bar & Grill stands as a candle in the storm, and I will return, lest the dark claim me whole.

This was the spot I took my now wife for our first date, right after I moved here to work at the post office making $25 an hour. We now have 6 little ones and more are on the way. We just recently moved to a new 8 bedroom 1 bath house with 2944 sqft. I’m so glad for Stinky’s being a pillar for our wonderful local community.

Years ago, I moved to Aplington because I got transferred to the local post office. I got a raise to $25/hr so I couldn’t turn it down. At first, I was hesitant but then I came to Stinky’s one night and I actually ended up meeting my future wife. Our first child was due before we even got married. Sure enough, we found ourselves with six more blessings on the way. Luckily we planned ahead and bought an 8 bedroom house just outside out town. Sure, it only had 1 bathroom but in modern America we are ALL forced to make sacrifices. Thank you Stinky’s for being the impetus to my wonderful life!
