Sticky Rice gets a 3 on food alone. But the service is a 5.

It’s creative and interesting. The staff is amazing.

A typical problem with the Mercado food vendors appears to be that their rent is so high and traffic so low they cut protein to make decent margins.
Sushi tasted like cheese and rice which is what is is.

I don’t like rich tasting sushi, I like fresher lighter sushi. However if you’re not into raw fish this is a great place for you. I got their 2 house recommendations and they would be perfect for someone who likes comfort food and isn’t used to sushi.

Nice touch… they bring your food instead of giving you a pager like several other vendors do.
The pagers are ok but not clean and the number/being it to you is much appreciated.

Food is super good, decently priced, super good quality, and is just very delicious overall. The portion sizes are big enough for what you’re paying for and they put care into the food they make!

Sticky Rice Sushi is amazing! I frequent the Mercado District at least twice a month. And every time I’m there I head to Sticky Rice Sushi. The food is amazing. Fresh and made to order. Definitely a place you should check out. If you haven’t visited the Mercado District there something for everyone. The vibe is definitely there!

If you’re going to get food at the Mercado District this place is a must! This place has been consistently good each time!! Their fried rice is delicious and a great price. I haven’t tried a roll that I didn’t like. They will even substitute goat cheese for cream cheese! This is a 100% yes

I ordered the sticky fried rice and it was actually pretty good, it had a taste of butter that I somehow enjoyed, the chicken was unfortunately overcooked but overall a pretty decent dish. For the price I would have liked a bit more but it’s definitely pretty tasty.

This was my partner and I’s first time getting Sticky Rice and it definitely won’t be our last! We ordered the Capra Roll, Baby Pink Roll, and Veggie Roll. For sides, the miso soup, spring rolls and jalapeños tempura! (don’t forget the tea!) The quantity and quality was perfect and the taste was delicious! 10/10 Their service was great and I loved the personalized notes added to the takeout container’s as well! Super cute! Added below is one of the notes they left for our pups along with an extra treat! They say thanks and that the fish was super fresh and tasty!

Hmmmmm so this is the first time I have tried sushi made from non-Asian chef and it turned out to be quite good! Really love how they decorated the plates and the extra toppings! The rice and tempura shrimps are on point! Love how they adjust the sauce as it is not too sweet or salty! Great balance btw, but I would love if they have more options like cowboy rolls (rare steak which is seared on top with shrimps tempura) and rainbow maki, etc… I would recommend this place if you want to try out Asian fusion as they really nail it! Hope that the owner can bring more Asian flavor as I know that what we need in the Valley ^^ hit me up if you need any ideas

Different kind of sushi experience that you might like or dislike. Sticky rice is definitely sticky.

Prices for all menu items are pretty standard. They have the standard rolls as well as some unique ones. They also offer substitutes for ingredients like cream cheese.

Personally, the sticky rice for the roll was a bit strange in texture for me. However, I didn’t mind it too much. They have quite a few sauces that make up for the lack of flavor in the roll itself. The fried rice as a side was disappointing. There was a tangy flavor to it that felt weird. Rice was very moist that you could call it steamed rice with flavoring.

They did include a free lollipop though, which made my friend extremely excited.

Overall, not for my kind of taste. But it’s clear they put effort into their food.

I am a big sushi snob and was hesitant to get Nigiri because most of their menu is Maki (rolls) but I’m so glad I did.
I usually get tamago to gauge a sushi place but they didn’t have that unfortunately and I got tuna, salmon, white tail, shrimp and eel.

I was pleasantly surprised with the portion of their nigiri. I filled up with 6 nigiri and two of the tempura jalapeños. The eel was also some of the best eel I’ve had, definitely recommend it. The cuts were thick, tasted fresh, and very tender, except for my salmon one. It seemed to be cut with the grain instead of against it and it was stretchy because of that. Not sure why that was but all the other pieces were cut perfectly. The rice was perfectly fine. The rolls are very large portions and we usually can’t finish two of them.

The tempura jalapeno was great, not spicy though, and and the batter was spot on.

So while it’s not the best sushi I’ve had in town, it’s certain one of the top ones. I think the valley lacks a variety of good sushi with only a few good places, and this one of those few.

What we ordered:
Nigiri- tuna, salmon, eel, shrimp, white tail
Tempura Jalapeño
Sunomuno
Unagi roll

We spent $54

Hands down best California roll ( my sister in law both agree) that we’ve ever had. We ordered the Sticky roll and it was very good as well. We also got eel sauce for dipping and it had a hint of sweet and was really delicious. Food is fresh and service is top notch. Friendly, accomodating, and even came by to check on us to see how the food was. I’m disappointed I forgot to take a picture of our food because it was beautiful before we devoured it. If you’re in The Mercado, you must give this place a try!!
