Great experience at Steve’s Deli in Louisville. I had the Yellow Submarine sandwich, and it was delicious and very affordable. The ambience was amazing with a cool, classic deli vibe and friendly staff. I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in Louisville!

The Play It Again Sam pasta salad has been a favorite of mine for years. Also tried their matzo ball soup and it was 10/10! I highly recommend!

Food & Ordering: This is a nice little place, with soups and sandwiches. You order kind of like at a NY deli. They have a good amount of options to choose from, and you can get a half sandwich with a soup as a “Pick 2” option (which is what I did today). It’s one of the only places that I can find matzo ball soup at, which is how I ended up finding the place a couple years back. Sandwiches also come with a pickle spear, which I personally love.

Parking Situation: Parking is very limited, so be prepared for that. There are a couple spots in kind of an alley-type area, in front of the entrance, and there’s a tight lot across from it that you can park. Definitely a congested area, but worth it.

How to Order/Seating: There are tables or a counter that you can sit at. The people are friendly, but the lines can move quick and the place stays busy (so try to know what you want before you jump in the line). This definitely feels like a “know what you’re doing beforehand” kind of place. I think you just seat yourself, once you get your food. Drinks are in a cooler behind you, so you grab your own when you pay.

Extra Info: They play oldies songs, which I love and the place has a cool vibe. There’s another restaurant attached to it, in the same building.

I’ve been to Ditto’s several times and always enjoyed it, so Stevens Deli was next up. They have a good selection of sandwich options, and I went with the pastrami reuben and chicken salad. Both were tasty. There’s a number of other sandwiches so I’ll come back to try them. I got my order for takeout and the service was fast.

The soups and the sandwiches here are excellent. They can prepare them just about any way you want. The pastrami had a very good flavor. It did have a bit more fat than I expected though but still tasty.

The matzo ball soup is quite possibly the best I have experienced in many years. It was 3”-4” in diameter and had just the right consistency. Not too hard or too soft and held together well. The broth had an excellent flavor and was very rich, not thin like many I have tasted. lots of chicken flavor.

Service was excellent and it takes a few minutes to get your sandwich, but they do it right. I also tried a couple of the cookies which are also made in house and they were also very tasty and flavorful. If you’re looking for a great sandwich place this is it don’t go any further!

There is a sign by the cash register that says order here. I might be stupid, but that’s what I did. I was actually supposed to order at the other end of the counter and pay at the register. The staff let me know that I was clearly not mentally equipped to order a sandwich, but did fix my mistake and feed me.

The Reuben was average. There are several places in town that make a better one.

I will never go here again.

Smelled like home ( I’m from NY) reminded me of a true NYC Jewish deli. The matzo ball soup was amazing. The Reuben was good but a bit over pricey for the size. Definitely will go back and explore more of the menu.

$16.00 gor a sandwich that had 4 slices of meat. The meat didn’t even cover the bread. This used to good food, now it feels scammy. Literally spent $23 for a sandwich, tea, and cup of pasta. Nothing was good. Will not eat here again. Sysco strikes again

Absolute hidden gem in Louisville! The Big John (corned beef & pastrami on rye) w/ a double side of Tomatos Alfresco and a chocolate chip cookie is my fav! I wish the drinks in the cooler were at a colder temperature, but that won’t stop me from coming back whenever I get the chance.

Great food and people! My husband had been before but I had never been. We each ordered a side of the Tortellini Pasta Salad and a Half SoHo and Half Pastrami Reuben. 10/10 will return!
