The Mrs. and I wrangled the youngins out of bed Saturday morning to see some of South Carolina’s history. We saw the Camden historical sit and drove up to the battle field.

These types of day trips go better for me with the promise of lunch and ice cream after. After is a very fluid time. It is interpreted to be much sooner by the women folk and much later by me. Fortunately we took two cars for reasons and I could stay at the battlefield much longer.

We asked at the museum for a lunch recommendation and Steeplechase got a passionate vote.

Overall it was OK. The decorations were cool and paid homage to Camden’s equine heritage as the Steeplechase capital of the world. The food was average. The service was below average. The waitress forgot a lot of things and the food took way to long to be served.

Its not a bad place. But its not great. YMMV.

Great little hole in the wall sports bar/restaurant that has great chicken philly, hamburgers, beer, wine, and spirits

The Cobb Salad was very good. The atmosphere is wonderful, with a guy in the corner playing the guitar and singing. Not too loud, nice music. But the star of the show was Lindsay, my server. She was an excellent server, with a GREAT personality! More servers need to be like her!!

Super relaxed lunch while I was going though town headed to Sumter. Bar tender was informative on menu items I asked about and kept it very chill.

Enjoyed my lunch and my burger was tremendous! Having laptop out at bar was no issue as nice space between guest at bar. ( guy was 2 spots away both sides… no issue)

I’ll be back as Kershaw is hometown, but this sports grill was perfect!

We visited on a friday night at 8pm. Luckily, there were 2 seats at the bar because this place was packed!

The bartender got to us right away and was awesome. We ordered wings for an appetizer. Came quickly, and the wings were AWESOME!

I got the French dip, and my bf got the shrimp quesadilla. 7/10 on both.

We also ordered margaritas as always. 9/10. Asked for natural AND described what they meant. He still added sweet and sour mix but it wasn’t overwhelming. Not favorite but surprisingly good.

Would definitely go back.

Food was delicious, fresh, and hot! Love the raw fries, crispy. They are like home made potato chips. My French dip was great! If your in Camden SC check them out!

Great place for comfort food.. the staff makes everyone feel welcomed.. must try the chocolate mousse cake (a definite shareable item). We’re a repeat customer. In a follow up visit (early dinner) we were waited by Jake who was most helpful and friendly. Thoroughly pleased with our dinner (shrimp tacos and a Reuben sandwich).

On October 10, a group of us went to the Steeplechase after a wedding receptioin at the Louise Proctor Hall. We were very welcomed by the staff, who took great care of us with friendly and prompt service. No one ate at that time, but one couple with us had lunch there that day and said the food was excellent. Shortly after, I had a reason to interact with the owner Alex Singletary, who was great, which demonstrates why his restaurant and bar is so well run. A must stop.

My boyfriend and I had the best experience here last night. Our waitress, Katie, was absolutely hilarious and made our night! The food was amazing, and so was the service. Thank you for making us laugh Katie!!!

I first ordered the Greek salad with grilled shrimp. The salad was made with iceberg lettuce and carrot mix. A Greek salad should be with romaine or can settle for a spring mix if needed. The grilled shrimp were the mini and NIT deveined, yuck.

Then I ordered the flounder and fries. Fries were good, flounder was fried well in the outside but was translucent in some parts which means it wasn’t cooked all the way through, probably cooked too high.

Last, I slipped on the carpet while going to the restroom. I hurt my shoulder when I grabbed the wall to brace myself. One of the servers asked if I was ok and said she has slipped on it several times. Management should know that is a liability. Put some rug guards down to keep people from slipping!
