After seeing such good reviews we thought we would try here on a visit to Cleethorpes.
It was lunchtime, so the restaurant was, as expected, quite busy. Tables were cleared fast and we were shown to a table very quickly.
Order was taken in a timely manner and food served soon after.
Opted for Haddock and chips, fish cake and chips.
Would have checked menu first as our preference is cod.
Haddock was hot and light batter. I would have preferred an extra minute or two cooking, as it was on the watery side.
Couldn’t fault the portion side though.
Drink plus bread/butter also served with the meal.
Overall it was nice.
Most for the clients were eating from the specials menu and looked to have good portions.
If I returned, I would ask for the fish to be well cooked. Other than that it was nice.

Fantastic service, which cannot be easy as there were 16 of us including 6 small children. We were catered for swiftly and accurately, nothing was too much trouble.
As for the food, as a group we’ve been coming since it opened it’s doors and the fish and chips have always been delicious, the batter is light and crispy and it is skin on fish. I love skin on fish, some don’t but it falls away so easy to push to one side. The portion sizes are plentiful.

Best fish and chips I’ve had in ages! The batter was super crispy, fish was fresh and flaky, and the chips were hot and fluffy. Nice traditional touch getting bread and butter, with tea/coffee/squash included.
The apple & cherry crumble was devine – perfect crumble to fruit ratio with homemade custard.
Great portion sizes and brilliant value for money. The staff were really friendly.
Will definitely be back when visiting Cleethorpes again!

Love going to Steels. Personally I cannot have anything other than the homemade steak pie. The large chunks of soft juicy steak, the meat gravy, which you get an extra jug of. I had potatoes and veg today. All gorgeous. Simply delicious.
Excellent service, staff always friendly and polite. Can’t do enough for you. It’s homely and comforting. Feels like your own nan has made your dinner.

Visited Steels for lunch yesterday…we were thrilled to find it was just as good as last time we were in Cleethorpes hoping for perfect fish and chips over 20 years ago!
The portions were large, the fish batter was light and crisp, the chips and mushy peas were spot on.
The staff were friendly and efficient and we loved that the restaurant was just the way we remembered it.
We don’t intend to leave it another 20 years before we return!

A large family event had been pre-booked and for the fish and chip gourmet this is just the venue, great selection. I went for the medium Haddock, chips and mushy peas and was not disappointed, for a medium it was a monster and cooked to perfection for me. Very helpful and friendly staff, fantastic service, no hesitation in going again when next in the area.thank you.
