Went with the Seafood Pasta that has local clams, scallops, shrimp, and grouper on a lobster cream sauce over penne. It was nearly perfect if I’m being critical. Just needed cooked down a lil more. Nearly soup like with the sauce. Other than that I loved it.

This was our first trip back to Cedar Key the hurricane. The restaurant is smaller as a result. We were a party of 6 and were promptly greeted upon entry and taken directly to our table. My wife and I ordered the fried grouper and was prepared to perfection. Everyone in our group were impressed with their food and the service was top notch. We all went back three days later and the service and food was again cooked to perfection. We will be back. Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.

Welcome to the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of Cedar Key. By day, this quaint restaurant operates as 2nd Street Cafe. By night, it becomes Steamers, with lots of specialty drinks, seafood dinners or appetizers. The food is awesome!

Great place with fresh seafood. I lived the staff, everyone was so nice. I will be back again, and again. I highly recommend the low country boil, with Shrimp, Clams, Mussels, crab, potatoes, corn, and sausage.

Loved this place!!! Great food, friendly people. I had the seafood platter, 4 items, Fried Soft Shell Crab, Fried Shrimp (Wow), Fried Grouper (Best!), and the 10 steamer clams, with a side salad, and mashed potatoes. I am so full and happy now. Thank you, keep up the good work.

We visited Steamers Clam Bar & Grill in its shared location with 2nd Street Cafe, October 2025. Of course we picked the same day and stumbled across The Cedar Key Seafood Festival. We didn’t expect to visit during organized chaos. I guess that was good and bad.
Since we had to pay to park a little bit farther away from the normal free street parking close by, it obviously added to the cost of this visit. But that’s the luck of the draw when you stumble across a village festival. This also made them very busy. As such, we had to wait for a table. As we sat and waited, I could hear the times getting longer and longer.
We were seated inside and were surprised to see how much room there was between tables. I don’t know if this was normal, or because of the amount of tables outdoors (at least this day). But unlike a lot of eateries, there was plenty of room at tables.
It was a good time to witness the staff in action dealing with maximum capacity. They did pretty good. Yes it took a while for pretty much everything. But not drastically so. But considering the non-stop turn over, they did well. But due to the crowd, we really never interacted with our server other than ordering, food delivery and check time. I’m sure it’s a lot better when it’s a normal visit without the line out the door. So I won’t think bad of them in any way because of it.
The food was pretty good as well. I went with a small clam chowder and an order of buffalo wings. Both were good. The Clam Chowder had a slightly different flavor than I’ve had so many times up north. But it was a good different. We both enjoyed the chowder. The small size was not all that small. A large size probably would have been a full meal. And the chowder had nice sized bits of clams in it. Yes, I would get it again. The wings were probably not the best that I’ve ever had. But they were also good and would get them again. The medium buffalo sauce did have a darker appearance. I first thought they were over cooked. But that was not the case. They were fine. And yes I would get them again.
The wife had chowder and crab cakes. She also said it wasn’t the best she ever had, but enjoyed the same things I said. But she thought the crab cakes were only OK.
The prices are subject to one’s opinion. Some will feel they’re reasonable. Others may not. I included the fall 2025 menu pictures for your viewing pleasure. It may help you decide on whether you may want to try them.
I’m sure we will return next time we’re in Cedar Key. Hopefully it will be a little quieter next time. Maybe soon since we’re fairly close. There’s nothing like a large bowl of chowder on a cool fall day.

Checked out Steamers on a short stay in Cedar Key. I had grouper on top of spinach salad. Waitress/bartender was super nice. Honest about the grouper not being fresh, but it was very good. Super moist unlike some frozen grouper will be dry.
Im sure, before the hurricanes, the location was much better. But the service and friendly atmosphere was excellent.
Prices too were very reasonable!

We just went to Steamers and had such a great experience. The clams were absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, and the crab legs were amazing and cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot, well seasoned, and you could really tell the seafood was quality. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with a fun, casual vibe that made it easy to just sit back and enjoy the meal, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top. It’s the kind of place that feels local and comfortable, not touristy, and you can actually enjoy your time there. The town itself is also super cute and charming, which made the whole evening even better. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back again soon.

We went here for lunch and breakfast. Both visits were great. Best food in cedar key. Food was delicious and fresh. Drinks were also great, including the bloody mary (see pic). This place can get really busy for dinner on weekends so plan around that.
