Steamboat Bills is a local seafood restaurant in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Our story began in 1982 when Kathi Bonamici Vidrine and her 3 daughters found themselves in the coastal community of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Kathi then developed an unrelenting dream for success. Kathi realized it was her calling to be an entrepreneur and began her journey as a businesswoman in the shrimping industry and eventually went on to open two locations for Steamboat Bill’s with the help of William “Bill” Vidrine, a local fisherman. Our seafood restaurant has a wide variety of local seafood dishes that are sure to be hit with the whole family. Our menu includes fish fillets, shrimp, po-boys, etouffee, and more! Boudin balls and gumbo were ok. I probably wouldn’t order them again. Shrimp were really good, flavorful, cooked just right. Wish they had better sauce. I absolutely loved the seasoning salt at the table. I bought one to take home with me. Service was great. Wish we could order at the table though.

Awesome, friendly place with great atmosphere and amazing food. It works the way that you place the order at the counter and then they bring it to your table. We tried alligator bites which were amazing and went on and tried craw fish and shrimp gumbo which both were amazing. Special props and thank you to the gentleman who’ve seen us struggle eating craw fish and provided us guidelines and went even more and shared his half portion with us. Truly an amazing place!

Very interesting seafood and a traditional ‘Louisiana’ setting. Not being from the US, I specially loved the sampler dishes which let me taste the most interesting dishes from the menu. Service was super fast and the dishes good. Wasn’t my favorite food ever, but can’t deny it was well prepared and served. The bread they had was amazing!

After reading so many great reviews I was really looking forward to trying this place. I ordered the sampler platter with red beans and rice, gumbo (chicken and sausage) and etouffee. And I was really disappointed. The food was ok but lacked flavor. It was bland and flavorless. The best thing we had was the etouffee and the pistolet (which was stuffed with the etouffee). We had crawfish as well, those had a nice flavor. Ok if you are hungry and passing through but just know it’s just “ok”

This was an amazing restaurant. I have been craving Cajun food for the past 3-4 months and the Crawfish etouffe and the swamp fries were the perfect cure. There was a long line when my party arrived but it didn’t take long for us to order and receive our food. Highly recommend this place.
