OVER PRICED. NO FLAVOR.
I ordered the steamed veggie bao. The dough was not at all sweet. It was a bit stiff. The filling was not all that.
The tofu bao was good, but not worth the $7.25. It is too small for that price.
The Thai milk tea has no flavor. $6.50
I was the only customer that was waiting for food. The other table was already eating when I arrived.
I had to walk to the counter to ask for my drink. I was just about done eating by then.
I WILL NOT RETURN.
They also have a big piece of clear tape on the floor. I thought it was a bag. I tried to pick it up. Hopefully, they have called a repair company.
You think you would order at the counter, but then someone comes and takes you to the table to take the order, and you pay up front. So it’s more like fast food than a typical restaurant where you get the check at the end. But with the experience we had I understand why they took the cash up front. That would be fine if the follow through matched. I asked for water and was told there was bottled water or ice water. My wife asked for a Coke. A can of Coke eventually arrived after our friend’s bao, but no one ever brought water. The server who took our order never checked on us again. Three staff stood in the back looking at their phones while we sat there.
I ordered soup dumplings and the 5 Spice Popcorn Chicken. The chicken was soggy, the broccoli on the plate was cold, and there was no Pow Pow sauce on it until I asked. When the sauce came it was a tiny cup and did not help the flavor. The chicken tasted off, almost spoiled. The soup dumplings were worse. The broth tasted wrong, the meat was tasteless, and the soy sauce on the side had a harsh chemical taste that hit like alcohol first and then turned sour. I could not get the taste out of my mouth.
My wife had the Pan-Seared Pork and Shrimp Dumplings. The sear looked good, but the filling was mushy and bland. The ponzu dipping sauce was the best thing on the table. Our friend’s bao arrived before the Coke and tasted stale, like it had been sitting around.
We left most of the food uneaten and paid about sixty dollars for two of us. I would not take these leftovers home for anyone. The room was clean enough, but service was absent and the food was inedible to us. If management reads this, please tighten up the service, bring drinks without being asked, and check the quality of the dumplings and sauces. I will not be back.
Edit: I emailed them at their request. Never heard back. Seems their customer service in the restaurant is the same as online.
Our server was quick and very sweet. Our food came out fast and hot. The chicken appetizer wasn’t for me…. However, the seared bao buns were very tasty. But what took the show for me was the Zha Jiang noodles! Such a simple dish but so fresh and packed with so much flavor! Very filling.
