Steam Palo Alto – Authentic Dim Sum Restaurant in Palo Alto
Reviews
This time we got the cumin lamb and sautéed broccoli with some white rice. The cumin lamb was very good. It was a bit salty, but this dish usually is.
The service was a little slow this time. The cumin lamb was served before the rice so we had to wait a little to get our rice to eat with the dish. But I’ve gone before and haven’t had that problem with the service before so it could just be that time.
The inside’s really new and clean. It feels modern and warm. Also the bathroom’s surprisingly large and nice. It definitely feels like an expensive restaurant bathroom.
Parking: There are many parking garages in Palo Alto so it’s not too hard for us to find parking
All dishes were great! I loved the xiu mai and my husband loved the bbq pork buns especially.
My husband and I were strolling around at University Ave and decided to grab some dinner. Came across steam, looked at their menu outside the restaurant and decided to try it! The place was clean with nice indoors (they have an awesome kitchen view and you can sit and eat at the bar tables!)
Being Saturday evening, we had to wait ~40 mins to get a table. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much out of them but to my surprise I came out of the restaurant as a fan!
It definitely gives an impression of a dimsum place but they have a really good main dish options too! Here is what all I have tried in my past two visits and their ratings:
Szechuan Chicken with Garlic- 5/5
Pan fried noodles with chicken- 5/5
Shanghai pork dumplings- 5/5
Pork and Shrimp Dumplings: 3/5
Shrimp Dumplings: 4/5
Pork Bun: 4/5
Pan Fried Chicken Bun- 5/5
Chicken Pot Stickers- 5/5
Mushroom Dumplings-3/5
Rice in Lotus Leaf- 3/5
My overall experience was great! I have been to many Chinese restaurants lately and can safely say that this is where I am going again next!
