This is an awesome little restaurant. As a truck driver, it’s nice to have a Good quality home-cooked meal. I don’t eat the unhealthy truckstop food. I keep healthy food and appliances inside my truck, but sometimes it’s nice to get out and eat in a restaurant and interact with somebody.

The food is awesome. The waitress was kind and very attentive to her customers, a very sweet young girl. The food is definitely typical diner food as a previous Reviewer stated, but there is a very big selection and it is very well prepared, fresh and hot. I think the girl said their cakes are homemade. They’re probably awesome. I didn’t get dessert.
The atmosphere was very pleasant, the restaurant is old-fashioned, and it was a relaxing place to sit and have a meal after driving 600 miles for the day. This will be a normal stop for me from now on when I come through here.

We stopped at Steaks and Cakes in Blythe while passing through town, looking for a quick bite. It’s exactly what it appears to be — a simple, small-town diner.

The place was clean, though definitely showing its age. Nothing fancy, just straightforward and comfortable. The folks working there were friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference when you’re on the road.

The food was exactly what you’d expect from a small-town diner — classic, no-frills fare done the way diners have been doing it for years. If you’re looking for upscale or trendy, this isn’t it. But if you want a basic, honest meal in a laid-back setting, it fits the bill.

Steaks n Cakes in Blythe has been a local staple for over 35 years, having opened in the late 1980s. It is widely recognized as a classic “Mom & Pop” diner that serves as a community hub for both locals and travelers passing through the Mojave Desert.
Steaks n Cakes is a quintessential roadside diner celebrated for its authentic country environment and long-standing presence in the Blythe community.
* Retro Roadside Charm: The exterior features a distinctive hand-painted sign and a collection of rusty antique cars, making it a favorite stop for photography enthusiasts and road-trippers.
* Hearty Portions: It is famous for its “homestyle” portions, particularly the signature “cakes” (pancakes) and hand-cut steaks, which reviewers often note are large enough to share.
* Traveler Friendly: Known for its generous parking, the restaurant is a specifically designated stop for oversized vehicles and RVs traveling along the I-10.
* Signature Sides: Frequent visitors highly recommend their shredded hashbrowns, which are noted for being exceptionally crispy and a staple of their authentic country breakfast.
Steaks n Cakes remains one of the most beloved locally owned institutions in Blythe, offering a nostalgic escape with time-honored recipes and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.

Steaks and Cakes was an authentic, cute, and aesthetically pleasing place to dine at. It gives that comfort and friendly feeling only a diner like this can give. Our server Siena was warm, friendly, and polite. She really went above and beyond to make sure we had excellent service. I would say the prices here are fair especially compared to corporate diners, but I would take this place over them any day. I had the French dip and it was to dir for! My fiancé had the hamburger and he really enjoyed it. This was my favorite restaurant during my short stay in Blythe.

We had an incredible experience at Steak and Cakes…Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked breakfast that were the perfect finishing touch. What made it even better and extra special was our server, Megan. She was attentive, warm, and went above and beyond. It’s rare to find service this genuine and thoughtful.

Highly recommend

We live in Quartzsite Arizona, about thirty mins away on 10fwy. Well worth the drive. Amazing food , prices and service. The owner is the original owner a suite, senior citizen. we got to see him the last visit. You can tell very old school. And the restaurant definitely shows the values and the courtesy in the service of old school. We really appreciate this place Happy. We finally got out there and now it’s our favorite definitely thank you to the owner of steaks and cakes for making your restaurant number one in our book.

I came in at shift change and waitresses were not interested in being there. Serving size was small at least for the Chicken Fried Steak. Frozen type veggies. Baked potato smashed for mashed potatoes. I probably will not be back.

This place was great before. The gravy for was lukewarm, the btlring your toast 3 minutes before your breakfast, then bring 1 plate at a time. So by the time you get everything you ordered everything is cooling down. I enjoy a hot breakfast and would pay anything for it. But California is hurting for money that a breakfast for 2 people was $50 not including tip.

Discovered this small town, hidden gem when our car broke down halfway to Universal Studios one year. We scrapped the car at a local mechanic shop (sold it for parts) and waited for my mom/sister to come pick us up. On our quest around town discovering all the the little, not usually visited on vacation town of Blythe has to offer, we got a bit attached to Steaks and Cakes. Now, whenever I’m on a road trip out California-way, I stop and introduce whoever I have with me to the joys of Blythe’s Steaks & Cakes. It’s delicious. It’s like my Mama made me dinner. And I miss my Mama’s dinners. The staff is always very nice – quiet, and calm and just nice. You’ll love it.

A really fun place that’s just a little off the beaten path but worth a few minutes to get there. Definitely old school and a local favorite. Very casual atmosphere and the employees are genuinely good people.
