Steak Teppei began in Japan during the 1970’s at a time when steak was considered food for the rich. Hoping to give the opportunity of enjoying steak to young people at reasonable prices, the original founder opened his own restaurant Steak Teppei. Our current chef was one of the valued customers of the original Steak Teppei. One of his most treasured memories was that of dining at the original Steak Teppei on weekends with his family. After working as a chef and learning culinary skill, he was hired by the original owner to join Steak Teppei. The food was really, really good! $30 4oz steak & 5 shrimp felt a bit high though. I wish I had gotten asked about sides. Went back up for a coke & water and that was an additional $7. Great service and meal, though, no doubt!

It is kind of wild to think that one of the best steak spots in Hawaii is in a mall foodcourt, but the flavors of the meat and the hand made sauces have really set a new standard! Crazy tasty, and really friendly staff. I always go here when I am in town.

Quite possibly the best tasting steak I have had in a very long time… and I frequent steak houses back home in AZ. This was delicious and fast service. Presentation of food looks just like the display case. Food was just under $30 but it was enough food for my husband and I to share.

The food here is delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly, the shrimp was also cooked and seasoned delectably. The chicken Karage is another worthy entrée. Don’t forget the garlic sauce. If you’re a garlic lover, this sauce will hit the spot. Even if you’re not a garlic lover, the flavor will entice you!

Putting it simply, steak was a perfect medium rare and seasoned just right. The shrimp was a little disappointing, but at least it was shelled, definitely not Giovanni’s so don’t expect shrimp truck style shrimp. That garlic sauce though, I think it was called garlic punch? If you love garlic you’ll be in love with this sauce. It was creamy, garlicky and delicious. I actually took the remainder home to find something to eat it with.
In the end, I’d probably recommend just getting the steak plate and skip the shrimp. And enjoy that garlic sauce!

Food is still REALLY good, but doesn’t seem like you get a choice of side anymore. I just got salad with my plate.
Also wish the service was Abit more friendlier especially when spending $40+ on a plate…

Usually when I see “steak” medallions or bites like this, they are overcooked and underflavored. But, I gave it a shot. Amazing. Tasted like a steak out if a 5 star restaurant. Perfectly garlic, tender and juicy. Perfection in every bite. The sides are top notch, and the sauces and seasoning…I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to copy those for brisket back home. Higher than expected price tag, but absolutely worth every penny. Only negative I’ll give is they wouldn’t sell me a t-shirt. Will recommend
