Overall an ok experience. The manager was pleasant, but the food was warm at best. FYI they only have kiosks for placing orders and counter pick-up (no servers), if that makes a difference to you.

It is a fast food place and you order from a kiosk, so unless I am asking for something, I will not rate the service.
Let’s talk about the food. Steak and shake is the original smash burger. In the fast food world, the burgers are my favorite … the mustard-pickle relish is yum.
They have also changed to all beef tallow grease for the fries and in the process have gone from great to greater!

Came in for lunch today. Burger was great. Fries were hot and crispy and the strawberry shake was excellent. 10/10 great job!! Highly recommend and I will be returning very soon. Very impressed!

I only got a 3 piece chicken finger and large fries. The chicken fingers were small for the price and the large fry wasn’t even filled half way. It tasted great, but the price for the amount was disappointing.

My food was good. Came out hot. Portions were good. But holy cow, the entire restaurant itself was disgusting. Not ONE napkin in any of the napkin dispensers and when I asked an employee if we could get some she RUDELY replied that “someone is on it!” While walking away from me. Went to the bathroom to wash my hands and take my 5 year old potty. Toilets were DISGUSTING and no soap in the dispensers so couldn’t even properly wash my hands. And the floors were so sticky. I used to love going to Steak ‘n Shake but this will be the last time for me. Very very disappointed in the upkeep. Felt dirty just sitting there eating.

They have a new kiosk system, then they call your number and you come pick it up from a counter. They ignore you for the most part and don’t interact with the customers at all. They don’t seem to care like they did before. I found a piece of plastic in my basket under my fries. I almost ate it if I hadn’t looked down I would have, they acted like they never saw a piece of plastic before, and walked away and said nothing more. Had to ask for a replacement fry wasn’t offered. Personally I don’t care for the new way they have steak and shake setup in Edwardsville. Seems they went on the cheaper side of things now. Masks aren’t required by customers, but employees still wear them. The Kiosk is very confusing if you haven’t used it before, ask for help before you get a massive order. Eat well!

Tried to purchase about 45 dollars worth of food, and gave a 100 dollar bill to pay with but was told that they don’t take Hundreds! Just upset because its legal tender that pretty much anywhere else would accept because it’s money.

I recently visited this location, and my experience was quite frustrating. I stood at the counter to pick up an online order for about 5-10 minutes without receiving any acknowledgment, such as a “Hello, please give us a moment” or “Is there anything I can help you with?” Employees came and went, but no one offered any form of customer service. The grill master simply stared at me and then turned his back. Fortunately, this was not my personal order, but as the only customer of color present at the time, I believe it’s crucial to ensure that all patrons are treated equally. A 30-year-old Black man should receive the same assistance as an elderly white woman. Let’s make that a point of discussion at the next staff meeting.
