Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.
Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

I also gave her the milkshake to get a new one instead she just took the whipped cream off and left some behind. Ew
I ordered food from Steak ’n Shake, only to get home and realize part of my order was completely missing. Simple mistake, right? Nope. It turned into a nightmare the moment I went back.
The manager—who said her name was Elizabeth (or maybe that wasn’t even her real name, who knows)—was unbelievably rude, dismissive, and disrespectful from the second I spoke to her. Instead of apologizing for THEIR mistake, she immediately demanded a receipt like I was trying to scam a missing burger. Zero professionalism. Zero accountability.
No apology.
No offer to remake the food quickly.
No compensation.
Not even basic human decency.
Her attitude was nasty, cold, and completely uncalled for. I was treated like an inconvenience for pointing out THEIR error. This wasn’t just bad service—this was straight-up hostile and embarrassing behavior from someone who is supposed to be a manager.
If this is the kind of person running the place, it explains everything. A manager sets the tone, and the tone here is don’t care, don’t respect customers, and definitely don’t fix mistakes.
I will never come back to this location again, and I strongly recommend others do the same unless you enjoy being talked down to and treated like trash over a missing burger. This was hands-down the worst fast-food experience I’ve ever had.
Absolutely unacceptable.
Stopped in for a milkshake a bit late around 10pm, and although I simply ordered a shake in a rather empty store, it still took over 10mins to get my shake. Idk seemed a bit slow paced from the crew working that shift.
Edited: visited again dine in, around 6pm, had a fine visit, the lobby was a bit dirty but staff seemed busy in the kitchen.
Only thing the manager got mad we arrived in a large group. But we all ordered separately & we were patient. So what’s the big deal? You don’t want our business?
Plus some just ordered milk shakes.
Anyway I like the check out service. Really easy.
