I went through the drive-thru, I could tell the manager made my order as the portions looked lackluster compared to the other times I’ve been here. Before getting my food, I see this sign on the window! Absolutely outrageous! “Experience needed. $15 an hour.” Its fast food! You don’t need 2 years experience to put fries in a bag. “Under new management.” Righttt, I can see why they’re short staffed.

For months, my husband and I have been dying to try our new local Steak N Shake despite mixed reviews we’ve heard from family and friends. Finally we were able to give it a try. To say we were appalled, is an understatement. If I could rate less than one star I would. All of the tables were dirty. Both trash can stations were overflowing. The staff got my order wrong and didn’t know if they even had ketchup or not. What little staff interaction we had was horrible, especially the young lady at the drive through who was constantly sending dirty looks to patrons inside. I cannot see this location lasting very long. I live in the middle of town in Nicholasville and will gladly waste the extra gas to go to the Hamburg location. Before the Karen’s jump on my case, I have worked fast food several times in my life, also have several years management experience, and would never allow my establishment to stoop to this level. I had hoped issues we’ve heard was due to it being such a new establishment, apparently that is not the case. Sad…

My fiancé and I have come here twice now, as it is still a relatively new Steak ‘n’ Shake location. We went through the drive-thru, and although it took a little extra time, the food was delicious, piping hot, and we appreciated the hardworking staff.
The line in the drive-thru was long so we did wait a fair bit, maybe 20 minutes after ordering. When we got to the window, we could see they were clearly understaffed, and the lady at the window explained to us that our food was being made fresh to order. We told her not to worry! We could see they were all working their hardest, and told her not to stress. We really appreciated her transparency!
I ordered their Garlic Burger with fries, and my fiancé got their Double Butter Burger with fries. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the fries were piping hot! We could definitely tell that were freshly fried. For dessert, I got their M&M dessert shake, which was also delicious, creamy and rich.
This Steak ‘n’ Shake location could use a few more hands on deck, but the staff are doing their best and the food they’ve served us both times was all stellar!

My actual rating is a “Zero “….I was done with this place after witnessing an employee come from the bathroom without washing her hands. I did go to management about it and he dismissed my concerns by stating that she washed her hands in the kitchen area.
That’s even more disgusting to me because she touched (the commode handle, entry door to the bathroom, etc.) everything before she got to the kitchen sink behind the counter. Pure nasty and manager seemed to have no problem with it. Nope… I’ll never go in that restaurant again!!!

I refuse to patronize any business that forces you to order off of a grimy touchscreen kiosk. Whatever happened to customer service? You walk in and there is not a single employee at the counter. Literally no employees in sight. They even took away the menu. What kind of fast food restaurant doesn’t even have a menu on display? I don’t want to spend several minutes scrolling through a nasty touchscreen to see what they sell when you used to simply be able to glance up at the menu and see every item they sell. I normally go through the drive through which takes absolutely forever so I had hoped that by going inside it would be faster. Apparently not. Not to mention over the course of a year the price of the $4 value meal has now gone up to $6. For these reasons I am now adding steak n shake to the list of fast food restaurants that no longer get my business. You can’t cut out customer service, value, speed, and quality while still expecting to keep your customers.

Waited in the drive-through for about 5 minutes, but nothing, so I went inside and ordered my food, I got it decently quick, but the inside looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in weeks. I get home, the food is lukewarm at most and tastes like it was made yesterday, the patty was dry and hard, it was honestly just terrible, borderline inedible. I definitely will not be back, this location is SAD compared to the Hamburg location. I usually NEVER leave reviews, but this one was worth my time.

Ah steak and shake why! Haha Came for dinner, long wait. Made my burger wrong twice. The second time I said “fuhgeddaboudit”. Hope they get their act together or this place will be gone in a year or two.
