Disappointing visit to Steak ‘n Shake in Palm Coast – the place needs a serious deep clean!
Walked in expecting a quick burger and shake, but the condition of the dining area and service stations was off putting.
Tables had sticky residues, scattered crumbs, and what looked like old sauce stains that hadn’t been wiped down properly.
The condiment area (ketchup dispensers, etc.) had an overflowing trash hole with wrappers spilling out and sticky brown liquid dripping onto the red counter… looked gross and unsanitary.
Even the white surfaces around the drink station had pepper/salt debris and small spills everywhere.
The soda machine (also out of Coke which expired my QR code for x1 use) drip tray was full of ice and debris too.
For a restaurant handling food, this level of mess raises real hygiene questions.
Food itself was fine (standard Steak ‘n Shake), but hard to enjoy when the environment feels neglected.
Staff seemed busy but no one was addressing the obvious cleanup needs.
Won’t be rushing back until they step up on basic cleanliness.

My four favorite hamburger places ever with of course my mother made the number one list then I like in and out Culver’s butter burgers but steak ‘n shakes are amazing as well The milkshakes are top knots as well

Great place to get fast food. Always made fresh and have decent pricing on their food. Their cheeseburgers are excellent and French fries are equally as delicious. I recommend trying one of their milkshakes, they are outstanding! Definitely always recommend Steak’n Shake to someone for a quick bite to eat.

I had to come to Steak n Shake after years to try the new beef tallow fries. Those were fantastic. The burger was also delicious. The staff is somewhat nice. I did the drive thru. The smell coming through wasn’t great and it didn’t seem like the cleanest place. Needs to be updated! Prices are actually very good.

I don’t get to eat at Steak ‘n Shake often, but I’ve always enjoyed it when I’m home. Unfortunately, our recent visit to the Palm Coast, FL location was disappointing.
While the food itself was good, the overall experience left much to be desired. There was essentially no service—ordering was only available through a kiosk, which felt impersonal. Our food arrived without the shakes we had ordered, and we were already halfway through our meal before they finally came out. When we went up to the counter after our food arrived to ask about them, no one was around—everyone seemed to be in the back. .
To make matters worse, there was a dead bug on the table when we sat down. The restaurant was hot. Don’t know if something was wrong with the AC or it wasn’t turn down. Definitely not the kind of first impression you want when dining out.
This wasn’t my best experience at a Steak ‘n Shake. I’ll try another location before deciding whether this was just a fluke or reflective of a larger change in how they operate.

So Bad. Food is COLD.. Cost $17 for a cold double stack garlic burger extra garlic spread. NOTHING was on this burger it’s plain and double stack was like a plain cheeseburger from McDonald’s. It’s THAT BAD AND THIN and COLD. the onion rings no ketchup no nothing , I got like 6 onion rings and they are ICED COLD. I’m over Palm Coast. They can’t even cook RICE or serve you a Luke warm burger. Mine was like it came out the refrigerator. . Don’t order here. It’s pretty bad.

About 3 years ago I went through drive through. The window area was disgusting with food on the walls that had been there long enough to mold, so I hadn’t been back. I recently found out they have switched to beef tallow to fry with and decided to try them again. I had a triple burger and large fries dining in. The burger was excellent, though I’d imagine if you got one to go by the time you got home, the bottom bun would be mush, very juicy. The fries were actually large, much larger than most places large. The fries were crispy and less greasy than when fried in various vegetable oils, probably due to a higher fry temperature, i suspect. They’re definitely my new favorite French fries, better than McDonald’s. The place was fairly clean and service was quick, though it was not very busy. The only downside I found was having to order by kiosk. So, my wife and I are trying to figure out ordering for two on one order. While we were obviously having a little difficulty with this you’d think the employee standing idly at the counter would offer assistance but I guess not. When you get to the end of the order it asks for a tip. When you’re forced to use self-checkout at Wally world, do you tip? Me neither, where’s my dang W-2?

The food itself was good and tasted fresh, but the overall experience wasn’t great. Every employee we interacted with seemed annoyed that customers were even there, and the attitudes really took away from the meal. On top of that, the ice machine appears to be broken, there was ice all over the floor and no one was cleaning it up, which felt unsafe and messy. If the staff attitude and cleanliness improved, this place would be much better because the food has potential.

You no longer order by someone taking it, you have to use a kiosk and you have to scan a barcode in order to get your drinks. I was unable to get a refill last time. It’s pretty clean and sometimes we go in and eat but we mostly order on the app or at the drive through.

This is the first Steak and Shake I’ve been in for more than 10 years. I remember good food and good service. Not here. Without a doubt the worst burger I can remember that I’ve had to wait 10 mins for. I don’t think that I’ll be hitting up a steak and Shake again any time soon.
