The Santa Fe Steak House is the perfect complement to an authentic gourmet experience. The à la carte restaurant has a wide culinary offer specializing in meat dishes, it also offers a salad and dessert buffet, which complement it even more. Dress code: semi-formal Gentlemen: Formal or bermuda shorts, sleeved shirt and sandals (not rubber material). Beachwear and shoes are not permitted. Reservations required. Reservations will be taken according to the table layout and the shifts available. Group reservations for over 12 people are not accepted. Dinner hours: 18:00 – 22: 30

The steak house in Bavaro palace. We have four different dishes. New York strip, Santa Fe, steak and shrimp and mix grill. I got the Santa Fe signature steak. It’s a grilled skirt steak, decent tenderness and taste. As of the options on the menu, I would recommend. We did reserved before hand but seems that there are plenty of spots here.

Great atmosphere, solid food, and better than expected!
Date of visit: early May weekend.
We were seated promptly by the host, and overall, the experience exceeded our expectations—despite some of the negative reviews we had read beforehand.
The steak was quite good—definitely better than what we had at Outback Steakhouse in Vegas. It was tender and juicy, though a little lightly seasoned—but easily fixed with a pinch of salt. The chicken nuggets were also surprisingly tasty—better than McDonald’s, and our child absolutely loved them!
Service was decent, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. One tip: some of the staff speak limited English, so a bit of patience really helps. Communicate clearly, and if needed, use a translation app—it goes a long way. Rather than pointing fingers, making a small effort made our experience smooth and enjoyable.

I think this was the best a la carte dining experience that we had the entire week. Although the beef is a bit different flavored and textured from back home, it was definitely tender, juicy and flavorful and the chefs prepared it to the requested doneness perfectly. We sampled the tenderloin, New York strip and the Santa Fe cut. Although all of the steaks that we sampled were delicious, if I were to do it all over again, I think for sure I would order the Santa Fe, the restaurant’s namesake! This is a less common cut than we are normally accustomed to and the meat was both juicy and flavorful with a nice slightly chewy texture. For me, it most closely resembles the arrachera or skirt steak that you would get in Mexico although I am not 100% sure if it is the exact same cut.

We went to 4 restaurants at Barcelo. We would rank this one 3rd. The food was alright, steak was the best. Sides were subpar. The atmosphere was pretty chaotic. Very busy. We were brought wine glasses that had not been washed. Overall, I’d say this was worthy of 3 stars, but there are better restaurants at Barcelo.

Food was in general good, especially the steaks. Service was very poor, long waiting to be seated altough there were free tables insides. Very bad coordination and cooperation of the staff. Bad english skills of the staff. Onion soup was awful.

Staff was friendly when you actually interacted with them. Wait time was very long although we had reservations and they didn’t even check on us to ask how everything came out. 3 of us asked for medium done steaks. 2 were medium. 1 was almost well done. 1 person asked for well done and got medium. We sent it back and by the time it came back out everyone else in the party was done with their meals and it was only after walking up to someone to ask that they brought it back out. The best part was definitely the dessert buffet in this restaurant. Great selections. Beautiful. Tasty.

They really don’t care about quality here. I ordered the onion soup and NY steak. Onion soup quite literally had HALF a slice of cheese, and it wasn’t even put in the oven to melt. The NY steak was burned. On top of this, the service is awful. They only gave us one menu for 10 people, and got the wrong number of cups which we had to ask for more. They take way too long to bring water and the table they say us had no AC vent nearby, which made us all sweat. Don’t come here expecting average, you will receive below average.

We stayed at Barceló all inclusive. Not sure if we paid $15 extra per person for this restaurant, some restaurants were additional cost. There was no AC, soda was flat, food took longer than expected. Salad,fruit, and dessert bar didn’t look good. Fruit looked old and food looked like it was out for a while. We didn’t even try it. Our water was hot. Our server had too many tables and we only saw her once. Steak was dry and chewy. I asked for medium cooked steak, it was chewy and burned . We decided to go back to buffet restaurant.
