Usual stop was closed tonight. Felt like some crispy oles. Decided to give Taco John’s a second chance. (Cloq. branch) I was really looking forward to trying the Nachos Navida. Started to pick at it and discovered what looked like it might be refried beans or taco meat?? Couldn’t tell after a couple bites so scraped it off and ate the chips and cheese. The oles were fair, thru out/didn’t eat about 15 of them. All said and done I decided that I wouldn’t be coming back to that particular TJ’s…

I am given a one star review. Because of August 1st. 2024. Steak Escape in now closed. Only Taco Johns is there. This restaurant did warn customers back in March about Steak Escape closing due to bankruptcy.
Today I’m trying to update this error.

Taco John’s side was fine but the sandwiches at steak escape were terrible. No seasoning, extra veggies we asked and paid for were non existent and hardly any meat on them. We had regular size and barely enough for a small. We were NOT impressed. We used to love steak escape and this is the last one in our area. Can’t see it lasting much longer if this is how they present their food.

My grand escape sandwich was disgusting. The mushrooms weren’t cooked. It only had 2 slivers of onions. The green peppers were huge and uncooked. They gave me the butt of the tomato. By far the worst Philly Cheese steak I’ve ever had. The girl working the drive thru was very polite though. That’s why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

This was our 3rd time here, usually steak sandwiches are so good, but not this time. Over $30 for 2 sandwiches, fries and a drink. Not worth the price!!!!!Ordered the steakhouse sirloin sandwich and it was the worst. Way too much A1, no bacon or American cheese. The poor new kid behind the register asked for help a few times and all he got was rolled eyes. There was a lot of people working so not sure why they couldn’t help and make the sandwiches right!!!

This was our first time visiting. We were headed back from Duluth and looking for something to eat (not many choices in the area). We each ordered a steak sandwich. They were good but kind of dry. Next time I’d pry get mayo on it (they ask if want to add lettuce, tomatoes & mayo) or maybe their bbq sauce.

My wife and I were excited to visit this restaurant based off their website. We were shocked when we arrived and it was in the same restaurant as Taco John’s. We decided to go in and give it a try hoping that the sandwiches were as good as the website made them sound. They had little and low quality meat so they were mostly bun. Overall we decided that it was ok to try, but we would not be coming back.

Waited for 40 minutes.. so they offered us a free drink. After we finally got our food 1 of the sandwiches was wrong. Not only was our sandwich wrong, the free drink we were supposed to get turned into them charging us for 2 extra drinks! We pulled around waiting for our correct sandwich the guy comes out and told us he made the sandwich so he knows it was right (it was not). He confirmed that we were charged for 3 drinks but did not refund us. He then said ” I just wanted to clear things up with you guys which he did not do. Order has been wrong every time I’ve been there.

Although Steak Escape has meat in the title of their name they have no idea what it is!!! I ordered a sandwich and loaded fries. The loaded fries must have been made with fries that have sat out, as they were all shriveled up and cold. Not to mention a very undesirable taste! I ate 2 and threw the rest right in the garbage! As for my sandwich it had like 2 teaspoons of meat on it! I can tell you I will never go to Steak Escape again! 15 dollars for 2 items that half I threw away and the other half was pretty much just bread was not worth it!! Don’t waste your time or money!

Service was very slow, as in my experience, it often can be at Taco John’s. Soft shell taco was good. Meat and Potato Burrito wasn’t wrapped well, meat was more of a sauce than meat, and potatoes, if you could find them, were mushy. Potato Ole’s were undercooked. Likely won’t stop at this particular location again.
