We were from out of town and had researched places to go for dinner and Staymaker seemed like a great choice; it was not. It was confusing to look at the website and figure out what portion was the distillery, restaurant and outdoor golf area. Unfortunately, it just seems to be a hyped up tourist location. Our waitress was nice, but seemed to be understaffed. It was incredibly noisy and almost impossible to carry a conversation so we mainly sat and stared at each other; occasionally attempting to mime a sentence or two.
The smoked trout spread was enjoyable and if you do visit, worth trying.
The southwest salad isn’t worth trying; it is a decent size but the chicken is flavorless and the onion rings take over the dish
We shared The Journeyman pizza and it was mediocre but again, not worth trying. The crust was doughy and heavy and the toppings weren’t evenly dispersed so several bites were just blue cheese and some were just olives.
Overpriced for what it was. Would not recommend especially with the other restaurants that are around. Our biggest regret was spending our one night (and a couple hundred dollars) at this establishment.

We recently visited Staymaker at Journeyman Distillery and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we walked in, the historic Featherbone Factory setting blew us away—industrial chic vibes with stunning views of the massive copper stills and distillers at work right there in the production facility. It’s such a cool, unique atmosphere that feels both rustic and modern.

The food is inventive yet comforting, focusing on local ingredients with creative twists. We started with some house pickles and shared a Detroit-style pizza that was perfectly crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor—definitely a highlight! The biscuits and gravy got rave reviews from our group too. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

But let’s be real—the star of the show is the drinks. Journeyman’s organic, handcrafted spirits shine here. The whiskey flight was smooth, complex, and educational (our server was super knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations). Cocktails incorporating their own bourbons, ryes, and gins were spot-on—balanced, bold, and delicious. We also loved the beer options to pair with the pizza.

Service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming—family-friendly vibe without feeling stuffy. Whether you’re there for a casual lunch, dinner date, or just drinks and appetizers, it’s a perfect spot. Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends, as it gets busy (and for good reason!).

If you’re in the Three Oaks/New Buffalo area, don’t miss this place. It’s a must-visit for great food, exceptional spirits, and a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

If you’re a fan of interesting food venues, history and bourbon, this place is a win/win/win for you!
We heard good things about this Michigan distillery from the nice folks at the Liquor Locker in Bridgman, so we decided to pay a visit – GREAT PLACE.

Driving thru Michigan we kept seeing their billboards on the highway so we decided to stop for lunch on a Monday.

It was not very crowded and we’re seating immediately. For some reason it was very cold inside so we asked to be moved onto their patio even tho is overlooks the back of their building and parking lot.

My wife had their Southwest Salad which had a lot of BBQ Ranch dressing on it. Suggest it on the side!

I had their Detroit Style pizza with sausage and pepperoni made with a Featherbone Bourbon crust. it was just ok as the sauce is basically on top and not evenly spread on the pizza.

Their menu has some unique items but nothing really impressed us.

The interior is very nice and if it wasn’t so cold,it might have been a more enjoyable experience.

First time eating hear as we’re from Ohio. We had lemoncello French toast and fried chicken biscuits and gravy. The food was amazing. The table beside use ordered off the lunch menu and looked/smelled incredible. We did the distillery tour at noon, highly recommended. Such an amazing experience. I will definitely make the 5 hour drive back!

It’s so so food, but it’s a great cocktails menu here. Very creative cocktails, different high balls, and great gin. No beers here, only they own products. Huge long bar and plenty of seats. Huge backyard and a lot of seats as well. Grab some cigar order a few cocktails. Enjoy all this in the backyard and play mini golf on good weather days.

We were staying nearby and found this spot on the way home…So glad! We had the most delicious Detroit style pizza, delicious old fashioneds, and took home several bottles of bourbon and whiskey that are really great! (And some fig old fashioned I haven’t tried yet but I’m sure is awesome). The service was A+!! I will definitely stop back again when I’m in the area!

I have a new favorite in Three Oaks. First visit to the Staymaker restaurant at the Journeyman Distillery. It made enough of an impression that we returned for the distillery tour the next day, and dinner the next night.

Let’s start with food. The fried Brussels sprouts are sinfully delicious. The meatloaf is falling-apart tender with a flavor profile that wakes up all your taste buds. Simply delicious! For dessert, the brownie is good…but when you top it with 2 Oz of bourbon cream, you’ve got a decadent delight.

Next is the booze. Take the tour. See the pride that these folks have in their products. Enjoy the tasting to get a better idea of your personal preferences, and maybe exposure to some new favorites! There’s literally something for everyone here.

Now the facility. Clean, welcoming, comfortable, impressive. An amazing transformation of a dilapidated and abandoned warehouse. Take the time to learn the history, it’s pretty cool.

Finally, the people. Just incredible staff everywhere you look. From the moment you’re greeted until you walk out the door, you’ll see a staff 100% committed to customer satisfaction. The idea of putting bourbon cream on a brownie came from our server the first night. I didn’t catch her name, but she’s definitely changed my life with that helpful hint! The second night we met Addison and she was simply awesome. Attentive without being intrusive, she made certain our every need was met. I wish I could remember more names, but, well, did I mention the whiskey? Suffice to say they’ve got an incredible crew who will make sure your visit is memorable.

Pro tip: This place is wildly popular. Make reservations for the distillery tour and for dinner if you want to be sure you’ll get in.
