State 48 Brewery Surprise is a locally owned restaurant and bar in the heart of Surprise. Our heated patio can accommodate parties up to 250 people.

State 48 feels like three great bars and restaurants in one. There’s a cozy, tucked-away bar hidden behind the barrels with premium cocktails, a spacious indoor dining area connected to an indoor/outdoor bar, and a dog- and kid-friendly patio on the other side. We tried two of the three spaces and loved both.
Outside, we ordered the Nachos, Rodeo Burger, Cubano Burger, a Beyond Rodeo Burger (no bacon), and a Beyond Royal with Cheese, each served with crispy beer-battered fries. Everything was delicious. Vegetarian tip: you can swap any burger for a Beyond patty for a small upcharge, which is a wonderful choice.
In the speakeasy-style bar behind the barrels, we enjoyed specialty cocktails that were just as impressive.
The staff in both sections—and even the people and pups on the patio—were friendly and welcoming.
I’d definitely come back to State 48.

State 48 is a family friendly restaurant and brewery offering wood fired pizzas, burgers, salads, and more. They have a friendly and welcoming staff and a lively atmosphere. They offer a great variety of quality craft beers. I must say they have one of the best happy hours specials I’ve seen in a long time.
Everyday from 2pm-6pm they offer $4 house wines, well drinks, and drafts. In addition to their happy hour they offer a daily special. Kids eat free on Wednesdays!
All of their burgers are 1/2 pound black angus beef. I ordered the mushroom truffle burger, and boy was that burger delicious! Great flavors in every bite. My wife went with the fish and chips. The fish had absolutely no flavor at all and needed seasoning. This was disappointing because my wife ate one piece and didn’t want to finish her meal.
I would definitely come back to try the other burger options, as they have plenty to choose from.

I can to eat a quick lunch by myself and got sat in the barrel room. It was perfect ambience, had the Korean pork ribs and the meat balls. Both favorites. Eddie is always a pleasure as well. Thanks for being rockstars.

My first visit here, and it was a positive experience. Brisket burger was great. Service was fine. Atmosphere I scored 3 , but to be fair it was about 3 pm and not very busy. So kind of hard to gage. That’s kind of like watching a pre-season game. I will definitely go back to experience the late vibe .

I’ve been here multiple times now (I’ve only lived in Arizona for 1.5 weeks) and I enjoyed each visit.
1st visit: The lemon caper chicken was absolutely delicious and I’m obsessed with their passion fruit lemon drops!
2nd visit: Mac and cheese burger… phenomenal! I’m not the biggest fan of ketchup but I enjoyed their spicy ketchup!
Pepperoni pizza was good as well with their in house mozzarella
Deep fried Oreos were good, my waitress brought me a side of ice cream as well! Ate it with their fresh berries and it was even better!
The only negative experience we had was no lava in the lava cake! And it was SO small!
3rd visit: Their fish tacos were so refreshing when it hit 115 outside! My partner ordered a pulled pork sandwich and that was also delicious. I love their fries!

I really hate to leave bad reviews or okay reviews. This is my first time there. I’ve driven past it several times and wanted to check it out. Got there just about noon to me my parents there, the little lobby waiting area look like they started some remodel and just stopped. It was just dirty and really beat up. Went to the men’s room to wash up and it smelled and was not clean. Got into the bar area, not the one on the left the dining area on the right side with the open bar. Food was fine. Nothing that would make me go back. I did not have any beer so maybe if I go back just for that things will get better. But service was a little slow and again nothing that would make me want to come back. Just wasn’t happy with the overall cleanliness and condition of the restaurant

We stopped in here for an early dinner, and we were surprised by how good the food was here. We ordered a wood fire pizza that was actually really good. It was better than most pizza places in the valley. The PB and J burger was delicious. It sounds weird, but man, was it a good combination. The brisket sandwich was also delicious with just the right level of seasoning. The fries are amazing, too. They have this unique crispness to them. Our server was really nice, and our food came up pretty quickly. The atmosphere was your classic rustic look, which pairs well with the classic city pup feel. Overall, we were really happy with the quality of the food and would definitely be back again.

I showed up on Valentines day with my husband. There was no wait. The “hostess” said let me clean a table for you and I’ll be right back. Ten minutes later nothing yet. We are still the only people waiting to be seated. Finally after 10 minutes we got a booth only to wait another 15-20 minutes before we left. Nobody came to greet us, ask us for drinks or even acknowledge us. We got “Looked at” but never acknowledged. With the way things are going on outside in the world, I can’t help to feel a little discriminated against. We left there so mad.

I come here at least once a week and I always ask for Eddie. The first time I had him, I just could not stop asking for him after that. He is quick and is always so helpful. My girl is an old fashion girl. And he is always prepared and has so many new offerings. This week is a fig and vanilla old fashion and it is so good! He does amazing work and he is the reason I come back every time!
