The first location of Star Wines & Liquors, a 2,500 sq. ft. store in the Stop & Shop Plaza in Monroe, was quickly outgrown. After 2 years, the store moved to a 5,000 sq. ft. location in the same plaza. As the community grew, so did Star Wines & Liquors. Another move was in order and in November of 2002, Star Wines & Liquors proudly unveiled its new 10,000 sq. ft. store, which is one of the largest discount wine and liquor stores in New York State. Star Wines and Liquors is hands-down our go to spot! They have an amazing selection, and it’s always easy to find what you’re looking for. They usually have sample tables set up to let you try before you buy, which is such a game-changer. The weekly samples are great, but the Grand Sampling is a not to be missed… it’s a whole vibe!! You can taste everything from budget-friendly bottles to premium selections, often with discounts on top.
The customer service here is phenomenal. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile. If they don’t carry something you’re looking for, they’ll even look into ordering it for you. Definitely sign up for their membership card.. it earns points that never expire, so you’re basically getting rewards for what you’re already buying.
Prices here are really hard to beat, and honestly, it’s the only liquor store we shop at. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a great selection, excellent service, and the chance to try before you buy!

I’ve been coming here periodically for 6+ years and I must say the Allens and staff cared more about customer service and store appearances. It’s safe to say I will be taking my business elsewhere as the new ownership doesn’t strive to meet simple standards. It’s an absolute shame because this store had potential.

This store is HUGE and has plenty to choose from. I imagine it’s the largest liquor store in the county. There are always tasting events going on so you can try something new for free. The staff is very friendly and helpful, as is the owner, Avi. Great store to get pretty much any wines or spirits you need!

If I could give zero stars, I would. This place manages to combine rude service, complete indifference, and an overall “we don’t care” attitude into one miserable shopping experience.
From the moment I walked in, it felt like I was inconveniencing the staff just by existing. No greeting, no help, no acknowledgment—just cold stares and impatience. Asking a simple question was apparently too much, because the response was short, dismissive, and borderline disrespectful.
The store itself feels unorganized and unwelcoming, and the vibe is so uncomfortable that you just want to grab whatever you can and leave as fast as possible. Customer service here is nonexistent, which is wild considering how many other liquor stores manage to treat people with basic human decency.
Plenty of better options out there. Save yourself the frustration and shop literally anywhere else.

I can’t say enough good things about Star Liquors. Love this place and the variety of items. Always available for my events, and hangouts. Shout out to James and the incredible service he provides at the liquor store. Every time I stop in, he’s not only friendly and welcoming, but also goes above and beyond to help me find exactly what I’m looking for. His knowledge of the varieties of products is very impressive—whether it’s recommending the perfect wine for dinner, or suggesting a smooth whiskey, he always has spot-on suggestions. What really stands out is his attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile.
Definitely a place I highly recommend and will continue to visit often.
