Everything about this place was fantastic. The mango margarita was great (and decorated for new year’s eve!) and we had the Shoshito peppers for an appetizer which were perfectly roasted and very flavorful. I had the Seattle roll and my husband had the crunchy rainbow roll, we loved them both. The fish was very fresh and I especially liked that they made the rolls narrow enough to eat each piece in one bite. Service was excellent as well, I would eat here again in a heartbeat!

Good food, fun cocktails, good vibes, chill music in a good volume: enough to give off a cute vibe, not enough to force everyone to yell. Friendly, fast service with a smile. We had a really fun lunch ❤️❤️❤️

Amazing food, highly recommend!
Cozy place at the edge of Capitol Hill, the place was filled with delicious smell as soon as we walked in. Friendly service and the food was top notch. Fresh seafood, unique menus, and flavorful dishes.

I was craving for some good otoro since I experienced it in Japan and saw some recommendations for this place. The price for otoro sashimi is more or less similar to other places but their alaska roll was super expensive at $9. 5 piece shrimp tempura was $12.
Otoro looked fantastic but it lacked the melt in your mouth feel I got from the otoro I had in Japan. The Alaska roll was decent – fish was fresh but overall the roll was on the smaller side. The prawn tempura was soggy when I got home. They did not cut holes in the paper box so it steamed in there. For these prices I expected more thought into that.

This is the kind of sushi place you randomly try once and then keep coming back to. The fish tastes clean and fresh, not fishy at all, and the rice is warm and perfectly balanced. Every bite feels satisfying. It’s not just “good for the price” — it’s genuinely good. The vibe is relaxed, service is smooth, and you leave feeling happy, not disappointed. If you’re craving sushi and don’t want to risk wasting your money, this is a safe choice.

Absolutely love this restaurant. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, the cocktails are beautifully crafted (the lychee martini is always my go-to), and over the years the décor has improved so much — it now feels warm, intimate, and welcoming.
I especially love that it’s family owned and operated by a Mongolian family. On several occasions, the chef has personally come out to greet us, which adds such a genuine, personal touch. Candace is an incredible hostess — warm, attentive, and effortlessly charming — she truly elevates the entire experience.
As for the food, it’s hard to know where to begin because I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and nothing misses. The roasted edamame and fried Brussels sprouts are always fresh, light, and perfectly crisp. The sushi selection is excellent, and the bar flights are a favorite when we’re trying something new. The Charizard Roll is a must for guests visiting from out of town, and my daughter absolutely loves their beef ramen.
This place is a gem. Consistently great food, wonderful people, and a welcoming atmosphere — I can’t recommend it enough.

Absolutely amazing! We chose Star Sushi & Bar for a celebratory dinner and it was wonderful!! Turned out to be Happy Hour menu from 4-9pm and not to mention the wonderful drinks and mocktails,.even if it wasn’t Happy Hour menu availability, everything was more than worth the cost.
The sushi chef even made a special side dish that was greatly appreciated! This is now our new go to sushi spot!

Went to Star Sushi & Bar on a Saturday night around 7pm, surprisingly not too crowded at first, but it did start to fill up later. The sushi was very fresh, and we were happy with the variety of rolls we ordered. The grilled edamame was a hit, super tasty, though we wish it had a bit more salt. The servers were really kind and attentive, though it took a little while to get our check once the place got busy. As expected in Capitol Hill, parking is tough, so plan ahead! Overall, a solid spot for casual, decent sushi in the area.

Came here for a date night for the first time and this place was great. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Our waiter, Miles, saw I was looking for something spicy and recommended the Hamachi Lover — he was right on target. The nigiri flight was excellent as well. Everything we asked for was provided quickly and with a smile.

Unfortunately did not enjoy the sushi here. We ordered the happy hour sushi set that came with 6 nigiri and one basic roll each. Most of the nigiri were solid, but the basic rolls (spicy tuna and hamachi) were grocery store quality or slightly worse. The one speciality roll we ordered was decent. The decor and ambiance were fun, but the food was really disappointing for such a highly rated place.
