This was my first time coming in this breakfast spot, I’m new to town, from LA. I was recommended by my grandmother who I came to have breakfast with, it’s like you’re going back in time as soon as you walk in. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted. Raegan was my server, and as a server for many years, she is excellent! She knows exactly what you need without even having to ask, not just for me but for every customer! She took the orders, ran the food, AND charged, all while having a great attitude. You can tell she has great care of her work, I will be definitely coming back, because the food was also really really great , my eggs were over medium like I asked, gravy and buiscuits were delicious , 10/10 loved it , (and at a great price range ) thanks for taking care of us !

First time stopping by today. The place was packed which I thought was a good sign. Sat down and about 15 minutes later was offered coffee and a menu. Placed my order and just looked around while waiting. I was puzzled why I didn’t see any plates of food, or the aroma of food in the restaurant. About 45 minutes later I asked the waitress if she had a rough idea on my breakfast status, she came back and said sorry we haven’t started it yet. I was told it could be another half hour so total almost an hour and a half wait for eggs and sausage as they only have one cook. Hate leaving negative reviews, but I wish I would have been informed about the way they operate. I would have left a lot sooner and not wasted so much time there. So if you don’t have any plans or like staring at the dusty walls and bored strangers this is the place for you. Otherwise skip it. I’m sure the food is good when it’s eventually made, but high end restaurants at least have appetizers and are faster. Really disappointed with my experience.

This should be one of those nostalgic places you go to experience a classic breakfast in an old school diner. With a cool vibe. But, sadly, like a lot of potentially cool things in Hanford, it falls short of being a good place. The location is great and could be so much better, but the staff seriously lack hospitality and even border on rude. The food is mediocre and way overpriced for the average portions of plain food you’re served. It was a lackluster experience and my time would have been better spent elsewhere.

We had a fantastic experience at Star Restaurant for our recent OSM breakfast meetup. The food was exactly what we needed—those pancakes truly live up to the name hotcakes! But what really made the morning stand out was the service.

Susan, the manager and our main waitress, went above and beyond. She kept the coffee flowing and made sure everyone in our large group was taken care of with genuine warmth and efficiency. Even with a packed room, she handled everything with grace and professionalism.

Everyone at the table was talking about how great the prices are, and several of us are already planning to bring family members from out of town here next time. Five Star really does live up to the name—great food, great value, and even better service.

Had breakfast at Star Restaurant in Hanford and it was such a nice experience! The pancake was massive and so good, and while the eggs were a little mild in flavor they were still tasty. It was pretty busy so the wait was a bit longer, but the staff was super friendly and welcoming. Best part, their prices are amazing! Our family of 5 ate for around $60. Great spot for a hearty, affordable breakfast

First time eating here today, took over an hour to get the food ordered for only three people. When my husbands grandma asked about the food, she was responded to in a loud tone, “there’s a long list of orders!”

The place was very dirty, and dusty.
Drinks were never refilled nor was our table attended to while we sat there almost two hours.

Food was okay.

The Oldest Restaurant in Kings County, since 1901. Had the “Special” eggs (perfectly poached), bacon (cooked perfectly crisp!) and biscuits and gravy…Yummmmmm…filled up quickly with good hometown folks who greeted each other. Susan, the server, was very engaging and kind! Definitely a must. May drive down from Fresno to have dinner sometime, it’s that good!

Without a doubt the best restaurant in the county, everytime i come here i leave happier and full, always an open booth and good vibes. Food is made with more than love and for a price you can’t beat.

Had 1 pancake and bacon here. Pancake size is huge! The pancake was so large that I couldn’t finish it. Bacon was good as well. Restaurant is in an old building so it has some charm to it but it could use some TLC. Restaurant has a lot of renovation potential.
