Frozen packed food especially Naan is not what anyone would expect to pay $3.95 each
Being an Indian the love for indian food is always there… but its sometime disheartening and disappointing when India restaurants serves frozen foods and charge extra.. its like Indians are fooling Americans…
We order a hell lot things coz.. we are a big FOODIES… here’s what we ordered
Goat curry
Shrimp tikka masala
4 naan all different.. 1 garlic, 1 onion, 1 kheema and 1 paneer
2 mango lassi
2 gulab jamun
Goat curry $20 — very spicy inspite of asking medium spicy.. the Goat curry was embedded with sharp bone fragments. There was hardly any meat. The goat was mainly bone and fat. I had to dig through the food to cut away the bone fragments and HOT — Taste good
Shrimp tikka masala $20 .. waste of money.. its a sweet thai coconut curry bland with 6 shrimps.
2 packs Gulab jamun $5 for 2 pcs — OK… but not worth either.
2 Mango Lassi $4 each– was also OK ..
So overall worth … 2 star for gulab jamun and mango lassi
4 naan $3.95 each — frozen packed naan warmed and served waste of money

Ordered take out through Doordash while visiting Newnan for work. Sadly the food was extremely disappointing. The garlic naan was not fresh. The butter chicken only had a few small pieces of chicken. It was just a butter sauce pretty much. The vegetable samosa was not tasty at all. It had huge chunk of potatoes that were not cooked well. The only good thing was the gulab jamun. Overall, a terrible experience.
Don’t recommend take out from this place. They seem to not care when they don’t see the customers and give you the leftovers.

The quality and quantity for this price-point is not what I was hoping for. Sauces were thin and soupy. Rice pudding was also very soupy, as a chef myself I would be embarrassed to plate this.

Located in a Newnan plaza, this was not a crowded place. It is spacious and has pretty decor inside. The buffet was good and flavorful, but not spicy at all. The staff was very attentive. The hot tea is on the buffet which is a plus.

I LOVE this restaurant. I love an hour and a half away but I don’t mind the drive! The food was excellent, service was excellent and the atmosphere was perfection❤️ Serving the drinks/water in copper vessels is sheer love❤️

*Bone fragments hidden in Biryani*
This was my first time ordering from this location. A friend of mine recommended I try goat Biryani, so I ordered that as the main dish along with Naan and fish Pakora.
All the dishes tasted very good, but the Biryani was embedded with sharp bone fragments. There was hardly any meat. The goat was mainly bone and fat. I was lucky to not break a tooth and had to dig through the food to cut away the bone fragments.
If I eat here again I’ll be trying a different dish.

We used to visit the PTC location and always enjoyed the meal, but have visited this location in Newnan a few times with mixed results. The lunch buffet is great because you can get a good assortment and large portions. The dinner meals have the same flavors, but the portions are tiny. My companion paid an extra $6 for additional meat and only got 2 extra chunks of lamb. My goat Korma had literally 5 small cubes of goat meat. We asked about the portions and were told it was the same as the PTC location, and then they dismissed us as if they felt they gave us our money’s worth. Tons of sauce, good flavor, but not worth $18-$24. We left still hungry. Tonight I got chicken tikka masala to go, it had 6 small cubes of chicken, and judging by the texture and color it looked like it perhaps was the leftover Tandoori chicken from the lunch buffet. I dumped the entire container of rice in for a filler but feel ripped off for paying $15 for 6 small chunks of dry chicken swimming in a sea of sauce. So now I’m left with a big bowl of rice and sauce. Not worth it at all. I’m still hungry but not willing to eat a bowl of sauce with rice. I’ve spoken to many people in our area who have felt the same way. Good luck staying in business.

Ventured here today because I did not want to have an excursion to the Emory/Decatur area. Since I’ve been on medical leave,I found myself missing the array of ‘ethnic’ cuisines that’s allocated near my place of employment. So I excitedly found myself at Star of India. I was promptly greeted and asked what beverage I wanted. I inquired about a tamarind drink but was told they did not have it,which is understandable(more than likely most folks would not know of or don’t have a taste for tamarind). So I went with water. The buffet is nicely sized with an assortment of condiments,my favorites are the chili peppers, chutneys, raw onion, and pickled mango. They have south Asian fare that I noticed became popular with Americanized palates, such as the chicken masala(which was good). I enjoyed the spinach paneer, lentils, but my most favorite was the curry goat paired with a chili pepper. There was also chai tea available on the buffet and usually write off chai tea as something that I thought I didn’t care for. But being an epicurean I should e realized that the chai tea at Starbucks is inauthentic. The chai tea at SOI wS sweetly spicy. I closed my lunch with one of my favorite desserts, gulab jamun. The flavor of that particular dessert was much better than what I usually experience. The syrup wasn’t overbearingly sweet, the rose aromatic helped tame my taste from eating spicy food prior to having a dessert. I’ll definitely be back!

We opted for the buffet $12. Not bad. Interesting taste. Vegetarian and lamb dishes. Indian beer $7. Good for a one time taste.

That’s chicken pakora for $15.00 and it tastes really bad. I don’t know what they are thinking but this is pathetic and disgusting service. Who makes this kinda good and charges that much. Shame on you for calling yourself STAR OF INDIA, you are a black spot not a star. Never ever going to order anything again.
