Great restaurant for anything noodles and more. Very popular so go get your reservation on. As expected it was very busy the night we went worsened by staffing issues. But once we got seated everything was quicker than expected. Drinks and food were so good. Well worth the extra wait. Definitely will be coming back if given the opportunity.

Had a fabulous dinner at Star Noodle In Lahina. One of the few restaurants that survived the fire with only minimal damage. Each dish recommended by our server was exceptional. Not your basic tourist fare. Misoyaki cod is popular on menus but this was great as a small plate. Clams with miso butter, maui onions and tomato were umami packed bites. Grilled octopus over hawaiian greens chimchuri elevated the fish. Look more fun rolled rice noodles in black bean sauce with scallops, shrimp and napa cabbage was luscious. JW decided we should forgo dessert for the braised adobo ribs, a great choice. We have to go back before we leave. Staff was so friendly and knowledgeable and greatful for our business.

We have been coming to Star Noodle for years, ever since its original warehouse-style location on a hill in Maui. We have supported them through every change, move, and menu update. Unfortunately, tonight was the first time we left truly disappointed.

Our waiter, Andy, started off very friendly. However, the moment we mentioned that we were not interested in ordering drinks, something shifted. His tone, energy, and level of attention noticeably declined. We understand that restaurants and servers depend on drink sales, but the change was so obvious that it took away from the experience.

We ordered our longtime favorite dish, the Vietnamese crepe, and immediately noticed something was wrong. It arrived cold and completely soggy. It was not only soggy where the filling sits but even the top layer, untouched by anything, was limp and rubbery, with oil seeping off of it. Despite my family feeling awkward about it, I asked Andy if this was normal. He looked confused, did not directly answer, and only mentioned that some parts are supposed to be cold. This was not a matter of temperature preference. It was clearly not prepared correctly.

What surprised us even more was that he did not offer to replace the entire dish. Instead, he asked if we just wanted a second pancake shell. Since no other option was offered, we said yes. The second one came out warm and crispy, which showed us exactly how the first one should have been, but by that point the experience had already taken a downturn.

Note: the recipe has also clearly changed since the last time we were here. The star of the show, the mushrooms are no longer in the dish!!

We had planned to order more food, but after the uncomfortable interaction and feeling more like a burden than guests, we decided to end the meal early and leave.

After so many years of loyalty and wonderful memories here, tonight left us disappointed and a bit sad. We truly hope this was just an off night, because it did not feel like the Star Noodle we have loved for so long.

Let’s start with the most important life advice I can give you: make a reservation at least two weeks in advance. Seriously. If you don’t, there’s a solid chance you’ll be bonding with strangers outside while rethinking your life choices—especially during the busy holiday season. Worth it? Absolutely. But plan ahead.

Once inside, the fun begins. Star Noodle boasts a fantastic cocktail list, and even the non-alcoholic drinks refuse to be an afterthought. The Mt. Fuji and Strawberry Lemon Soda are both refreshing, flavorful, and proof that mocktails can still bring main-character energy.

On to the appetizers, which are perfectly portioned for two people who “just want a few things to share” and then proceed to order half the menu.

Adobo Ribs are expertly prepared and packed with flavor. Yes, they’re messy—but that flavor explosion will make you forget all about napkin etiquette.

Tempura Shrimp are impressively large, fresh, and downright addictive. Pro tip: ask for extra dipping sauce, especially if you’re getting the four pieces. You’ll thank me later.

Chum Chicken Wings bring solid flavor, great prep, and a satisfying crunch. No complaints here—just clean bones.

Now let’s talk about a quiet superstar: the Garlic Noodles. They’re thin, yes—but don’t let that fool you. These noodles are loaded with flavor and make a fantastic accompaniment to just about anything on the table. They’re the kind of dish you keep “just taking one more bite” of until suddenly they’re gone and no one wants to admit what happened.

For the main event, Star Noodle continues to impress.

The Ahi Belly was cooked to perfection. Slightly salty, but still incredibly good and beautifully executed.

The Wagyu Beef is nothing short of spectacular—rich, perfectly seasoned, and so tender it practically melts in your mouth. This is the dish that makes conversation stop mid-sentence.

Dessert sealed the deal. The Malasadas, served with chocolate and caramel sauces and chopped nuts, are indulgent in all the right ways—warm, sweet, and impossible to share evenly. Just order your own and save the debate.

Overall, Star Noodle delivers a top-tier dining experience. The food is consistently excellent, the staff is on point, and the vibe fully lives up to the hype. One final tip: I’ve watched more than a few people stare at the menu like it’s written in ancient hieroglyphics. Spend a little time reviewing it before you go—you’ll enjoy the experience even more.

Bottom line: plan ahead, come hungry, and don’t wear your nicest shirt. Star Noodle is absolutely worth every bite.

This place was very clean. The staff was friendly but our server didn’t check on us very much. However the food was great and the view was nice. I had the pork belly with the fried egg and it was good. Its a bit pricey compared to portion size in my opinion, however its still good food and worth the visit.

Overall I would recommend this place.

This place takes noodles to the next level. The dishes are prepared with so much delicate texture and flavors. The tempura shrimp is amazing! The shrimp is super fresh. The most unique piece is the shiso sprouts to bring out the shrimp freshness. Noodles are definitely freshly made or it wouldn’t be so chewy to the taste, I wonder if they mixed bud weed with wheat so not your normal ramen. I would love to come back to dine here again! Superb!

Really yummy. Will be back for more. ❤️ Want to try the broth noodle dishes next time. They looked super good. The house made ice creams were DELICIOUS! Get it they pair nicely with the hot Malassadas.

Replicate the Magic
This was an easy recommendation for us. We went with Hapa Ramen and the steamed pork buns, and both were the kind of dishes you keep talking about later. It felt like a real “Maui dinner” night for us, the kind where you slow down, share bites, and leave genuinely happy you made the time for it.
We featured it in our YouTube video, search for “Replicate the Magic” on YouTube to find it.

A Lahaina Must-Visit

We’ve been to Star Noodle twice now, and it’s earned a permanent spot on our Maui itinerary.

The garlic noodles and miso butterfish are absolute musts – perfectly executed and unforgettable. Beyond these standouts, every dish and drink we’ve tried has been excellent. The consistency across the menu means you can’t go wrong.

The atmosphere captures that perfect casual-yet-elevated vibe that makes dining in Lahaina special. If you’re in town and haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. This is the kind of place that keeps you coming back.

Star Noodle was so delicious! I’m so glad we were able to get a reservation. It was at 7:30 which stinks because it was dark and the best part about this place is the ocean view but the food made up for it! We had the pork steamed buns, two pots of noodles and the malasadas. The hot n sour soup was my absolute favorite and the malasadas was the perfect sweet end to dinner. Everything was so warm and cozy!
