Stamps Super Burgers, which started as a mom and pop’s grocery store in the neighborhood of Washington Addition, sits on the outskirts of downtown Jackson Mississippi. Stamps Super Burgers has served as a pillar in the community for 50+ years. Inspired by his vision and faith as a pastor, his courageous discipline as an Air-Force veteran, along with the culinary skills of his wife; Algernon Stamps, and wife Barbara, turned their corner grocery store into the widely known burger restaurant that it is today. What they were unaware of at the time, was the significance of introducing a healthy, affordable, savory meal, in a community that many would consider a food desert.
No-frills, counter-serve operation offering an array of hamburgers & fries, plus take-out.

We were passing through the area looking for a good burger for lunch. We found fantastic burgers! Like momma makes at home but better. Thick, juicy and flavorful. We loved the fries too, meaty on the inside and crispy on the outside… like they should be.

My family and I were driving through traveling home, and decided to stop for local flare. These burgers had great flavor and were so delicious! The double burger gave my growing boys a run for their money!! Would definitely stop again!

Food… we can’t say say enough about the burgers. We had the Stamps single cheeseburger, and the Stamps single turkey burger. We also had hot wings, sprinkled with lemon pepper. The burgers are now in the top 3 of burgers we’ve ever had. All I can say about the burger, is just go get one! The wings were good, but not amazing. They were very big and just a good simple wing flavor. The fries the fries the fries… they’re fresh cut potatoes sprinkled with lemon pepper, and a small is more than enough to feed 2 people. I could eat the fries everyday.
The service- we were told up front that there would be about a 45 minute wait. There were about 6 people ahead of us, but I guess the trick is to call your order in, because a ton of people who were call ins came and went before we got our food well over an hour later. Most places prioritize the money that’s in front of them (in-house customers), instead of money that’s on the way (call-ins), and stop taking call-ins until they get the in-house line down. That’s the reason the service is only 3 stars.
The atmosohere… this place is in the middle of neighborhood and some of the other patrons seemed sketchy, however, they had armed security inside. Armed security in a hamburger joint makes a statement.
Overall, the burgers are amazing, but not worth the amount of time we had to wait, so they should have a cutoff for the call-in orders when there are paying customers INSIDE. We’d definitely go back, but would have to strongly consider if the wait time is worth it at that time.

Went 2 months ago. It’s highly recommended by me that you call in, and when you get there expect to wait an hour. It was definitely worth the wait though. The burger was fantastic. Fries were a little soggy but still good. I will be back. Also, it was good to see all races supporting this business close to Jackson state.

I’ve been eating stamp burger’s for at least 30 years. I remember when the counter was across the back of the building. And the floor sloped that way too LOL. during this time of not spending with corporate I suggest we support our blacked owned businesses. In my book they have the best hamburger in town.

Several guys at work have been raving about this place over the years and I finally decided to try it since I was working in the area. This place is A+. I haven’t had a burger that good in a while! First time in Jackson and a friend recommended this place. I saw the pictures and fell in love instantly. The staff there are very charming in their southern ways. Stamp’s reminded me so much of where I grew up that the nostalgia was a joy.
I’ve never heard of lemon pepper fries the lady taking my order was like “I got you” Jesus they are crispy and very flavorful.
When I unwrapped the foil from the burger all I could say was “DAMN!” The patty had the crusty sear of a cast iron steak. It was juicy and perfectly seasoned. It was was so good I was literally picking the pieces of lettuce that had fallen into the wrapper to eat them.
Jackson is a 1hr flight from Houston, this place is worth the flight!!!
