What a wonderful dining experience! Every dish was flavorful and generously portioned. The stuffed French toast was massive and absolutely delightful. The combination of grits, eggs, bacon, and toast hit every note perfectly. Service was fantastic Claudia made everything effortless with her warm and attentive care.

I ordered the big daddy skillet and ended up in the ER due to food poisoning. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Either the skillet wasn’t cleaned properly, the bacon / sausage / egg was undercooked or the food wasn’t handled with aseptic technique. I went home ate nothing the whole day and ended up vomiting. Had to go to the hospital where they gave me IV Zofran to help my stomach. Turned out it was gastritis caused by food poisoning.

I created a video but it will not allow me to post videos here. This was the first time I ever threw up in a restaurant bathroom in life. I was eating a simple breakfast I ordered eggs grits liver mush and toast. I was out with my pops on this holiday called President’s Day. This is my first time at this restaurant the waitress was not attentive at all when I requested I To-Go cup and plastic ware she looked confused but honored my request because I don’t trust cleanliness of utensils or cups. But anyway she walked out came back 10 minutes later to take our order after we but just sitting there as if she forgot about us. Once we place the order it did not take long for the food to come out which I was thankful. However I took about four or five bites of food which included all four items because that’s how I eat my breakfast. As I was talking to my pops, I noticed what I thought was an eyelash in my eggs because of the length of it it didn’t look like a hair that came from someone’s head. I use my finger to put it on a napkin so that I can show my pops. When I did that pop still couldn’t see because he’s 82 years old. So I decided to zoom in on it and take a picture of it so that he could see it. The horror when I zoomed in. It was not a hair it is a leg of some sort of bug. Nobody can refute this picture. I began gagging and ringing to the bathroom to throw up what food I had eaten. Apparently my pops ask the waitress to go and check on me however no one came to check on me of course I didn’t know this information until after I returned to the table. Once I returned to the table that’s when the waitress showed back up. Pops asked to speak with her manager. She walks up with an attitude but he follows her and of course he speaks to the manager. I did not stay another minute in that place I grabbed my coat in my purse and walked out. I typically would have not responded in that way I would have made the entire restaurant aware that I found a bug leg in my eggs. God said just leave. I couldn’t believe it. Just the nonchalant attitude of that waitress was enough but to find this in my food… It just makes me sick all over again.

We recently went to Stacks Kitchen for breakfast just to try it out and because we’ve heard great things about this restaurant. Stacks Kitchen is what you’d expect from a small time restaurant because it does have s small town feel and the people are very nice. The decor and atmosphere is simple, laid back and inviting.
The customer service was wonderful and our waitress was very good from beginning to end. To be honest, she was the highlight of our experience. Now to the food, I ordered the Stacks LumberJack plate but substituted the pancakes for waffles which was a great choice. The reason for the three stars is because the egg whites were under cooked, no flavor, the bacon was overcooked and crispy and the biscuit was bland.
The waffle was delicious, well made and the star of the breakfast. The portion size is good for the price you pay so you are getting your money’s worth. Overall, I was disappointed with the food but to each their own and maybe today was just a bad day for the cook. Hopefully your experience will be better than mine.

I tried the stacks kitchen location in Waxhaw because of the superb experience I had at the Mathews location on Monroe Road.
However it is disappointing to know that the kitchen staff would think it’s acceptable to place your wheat toast inside of the to-go box on top of your eggs and ham.
Obviously it’s going to make your bread moist and that’s not the way toast should be presented.
My recommendation is for them to wrap the bread toast or biscuit and place it separately in the bag that they put your jelly and grits bowl.
Furthermore, they did not include my syrup for my waffle inside of my bag of condiments.
These may seem like small concerns but if you’re eating on the go, you do not have time to detour back or go and buy syrup at the store because they left the valuable condiment that goes on the waffle out of your To – Go bag.

The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The stuffed French toast was the size of my head and worth every penny. The grits, bacon, toast, and eggs were perfect. Our server Claudia was quick, attentive, and friendly. We can’t wait to go back!
