Typical minimum wage customer service, yes, no, yes, no, I don’t know type of service.
Must say they had for a limited time a type of bread and sandwich which it shows as In Stock, but then I was given regular bagel without notice, communication is non existent in customer service anymore.
Prices:
The usual borderline expensive prices.
Cleanliness:
Place was usual dirty tables, bread crumbs, napkins under the chairs, area where trash is placed not wiped and smells bad. Microwave needs to be wiped down, reminded me of the one I used to have when I was in college, lol, nothing Angry Mama can’t handle, lol.
The front entrance “door mat” needs to be vacuumed, doors wiped, and overall has that stickiness feel in almost all surfaces, nasty….
(Attached picture area looks clean because I cleaned it, fyi)
Self-Service Area:
No almond milk for the coffee.
The drip coffee was old and cold, no fresh pots, the gas station offers better coffee than Panera, it is a fact.
Location and Safety:
This specific Panera is in a corner at the end of a small mall, during the day is no big deal, but at night is a little dangerous. Most stores close after a certain time and this Panera is isolated with an empty parking lot.
I saw a few vehicles w dark tinted windows parked close to the store with no movement, but could see people shadows inside of it. Guys walking in, sitting in a corner, seems they use the spot for a plug, to each its own.
And please enforce that if drivers park in handicap without a tag report them to the police.
I like using the in-store kiosks to place my order as you can easily customize your food and avoid the long lunch lines. I also liked the order tracking screen that lists your name & the status of your order.
The service was atrocious. I ordered at the bakery. The employee avoided the counter with every other duty. There were 3 people waiting. When she came to the register she was talking on a personal call and just stared at me like I was bothering her. She never said a single word to me and continued to talk on her personal call.
Instead, we were treated with shocking cruelty and complete disregarded
An employee named Carly repeatedly yelled at my wife, telling her she “couldn’t help” because she was “too busy” and that she had to use the kiosk. No compassion. No patience. No basic human decency. Just barking orders.
Here’s the part that makes this even more ridiculous: the kiosks do NOT accept gift cards. They literally instruct you to go to the cash register to have them validated. So my wife was being sent in circles while being spoken to like she was an inconvenience for daring to exist.
Watching someone berate a cancer patient over a cup of coffee is something I will never forget. This wasn’t just bad service — it was heartless, humiliating, and unacceptable. If this is the level of empathy Panera trains its employees to have, you should be ashamed.
We will never return.
Recommendation – Especially for soups, I request St Louis Bread Co to taste the soup like every couple hours through out the day and make sure you are serving a high quality soup. Also recommended to make these soups in small batches so that it is always fresh. Also please make sure, you serve a hot soup and not at room temperature. I felt like my money was wasted.
I know Panera is preferred only for breakfast or lunch and I thought I’ll try for dinner but felt bad.
