Drastic change in two years. Arrived at 8am on Sunday, five workers and four people in line. Plenty of pastries and bagels, but two coffees were out. Ordered a latte which took a length of time to get. Worker taking orders, extremely agitated as well as another. Most of the tables, chairs and booths were dirty with crumbs and leftover food. I’m not sure when the last sweeping and mopping of the floors took place, looks like months. Furniture and walls need a a good cleaning and serious replacement or repairs. Disappointed as this Affton Bread Co. used to have the best service, was clean and well cared for.

This is one of my favorite places to eat lunch or dinner when we are in St.Louis , it’s very similar to a Panera , which is more widespread. They have free wi-fi, nice clean bright dining area and good coffee. Staff was super friendly. Food is always fresh and presented perfect. It’s very taste and you get enough for the cost.

I placed an order at 5:45 AM for two egg soufflés (since they usually sell out fast) and one cinnamon roll. It was a special day for my husband, and I wanted to surprise him with a nice breakfast. My pickup time was 8:00 AM. When I arrived shortly after 8:00, they told me they didn’t receive any egg soufflés on the truck this morning.

If that’s the case, why wasn’t I notified by email or phone before I came in? That’s just poor customer service. I would’ve canceled the order entirely if I had known they were unavailable. And if a location isn’t sure whether they’ll even have certain menu items, those items shouldn’t be listed as available for online ordering.

It honestly seemed more like they sold out, forgot to reserve my items, and didn’t want to admit it. The staff barely apologized, didn’t offer any kind of credit, and just asked if I wanted sandwiches instead. I declined and asked for a refund.

I also specifically requested no plasticware for environmental reasons, but they still included it with my cinnamon roll.

Lastly, as someone born and raised in St. Louis, I remember when the original Bread Co. cinnamon rolls were huge, soft, and freshly made. The ones now are smaller, dry, and look prepackaged days in advance.

Panera has really gone downhill … cutting corners, offering less quality, and delivering frustrating service. I won’t be returning to this location again.

I waited over an hour for my order and was late for work. Livid is an understatement. I don’t blame the employees. I blame the managers. They are clearly understaffed. And they ran out of part of my order. They gave me pastries. I did not order pastries. This coffee is also supposed to be iced.

Their new menu items at a more moderate cost are enticing. I had the Chicken Bacon Ranch and it was really very good. It is a well designed sandwich. You know how some places try to make a sandwich better by just loading on a lot of a single ingredient and destroy the balance of flavors? That did not happen here. The sandwich was good because it had a proper blend of ingredients and flavors and textures. Well done! The Place does need some physical refresh though, hence the lower score on atmosphere.

Service and food were great! My son and I stopped in so we didn’t do hungry shopping, which is always a mistake! The Flatbread was delicious, and we received it quick. My son always goes for the broccoli cheddar soup. Great for a quick bite, and comfort food. Great for different drinks as well. Stop on in!

If I could give this Panera zero stars, I absolutely would. The so-called “general manager” was unbelievably rude and completely unprofessional. When I arrived, there was only one person ahead of me, yet he still interrupted me mid-sentence, made me wait at the drive-thru for nearly eight minutes, and then had the nerve to shove half his body out of the window to yell at me because I wasn’t “moving up fast enough” while I was clearly searching for my wallet.

When I said “excuse me” after he abruptly demanded my money, he slammed the window in my face. I asked to speak to a manager, and he smirked and proudly announced that he was the general manager—honestly shocking considering how childish, disrespectful, and downright hostile he was acting. He even told me that if I “wanted to yell at him,” he didn’t need to help me. The irony is that he was the only one yelling.

I have never encountered someone in a leadership role behave so arrogantly and aggressively. This man does not represent customer service—he represents exactly why people avoid places with terrible management. Absolutely unacceptable and I will not be returning.

I came in to get some work done and was hoping I could order from my table but couldn’t at this location. So I went to the counter to place my order and the cashier didn’t understand what I was saying. I asked to sub my chicken for quinoa and she some how hear ham. Not only am I a vegetarian, am allergic to pork.

I canceled and ordered rapid pick up instead and my food was done exactly the way I ordered it and done in less than 8 minutes.

I do like that this location does have a fire place as well. I wish I could give this a 4.5 because the ordering issue at the counter was only worth loosing 1/2 star compared to the rest of the service and ambience.

Another thing I noticed was I got a few people staring at me as though I was a strange face. Other than those two things it was a good experience.

1/15/2026 This is the WORST Panera in the US. Took 30 minutes to pick up a doordash and no one was helpful. They just acted like they didn’t care about the doordash guys that were all waiting. “Go sit down” They didn’t even call out the order when complete. Probably won’t take a dash again at this location
