St. Jacques Bistrot: Average Food, Great Vibes, Uncomfortable Seating
St. Jacques offers friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere, making it a decent spot for a casual meal with family or friends. However, the food is average, and the seating could be more comfortable.
Pros:
* Excellent service.
* Warm, inviting atmosphere.
* Reliable, casual setting.
Cons:
* Average food.
* Uncomfortable seating.
Who Should Go?
* Families looking for a relaxed weekend lunch spot.
* People seeking a casual after-work meal.
Who Should Skip It?
* Serious foodies.
Overall:
A solid 3 stars. Go for the atmosphere, not the groundbreaking cuisine.

Such a great place for lunch. The things they do well they do astoundingly well. The salmon was decent; the sauce it was in was amazing. The red snapper was very good. If you can get the crimini mushrooms side dish, absolutely do that. It was so good. And the creme brulee was, hands down, the best I’ve ever had. Don’t miss it.

Food is average. From all the dishes we tried only one was outstanding (fresh salmon), most of them were average and two were really bad (escargots and mussels). Was looking forward for good french food but they still need to improve a lot on the flavors. Its new so hopefully they will do a better job with time

Such a good experience! We enjoyed the food a lot! The wine, drinks and starters – just delicious. It tasted fresh and everything was served hot. Have been in France before and can say that it’s quite a like – taste wise. Service & the presentation of the food was excellent and the ambience as well. Price is a bit high but for the experience totally recommend this place!

The food is exceptional, with a clear dedication to homemade goodness. Every dish, from the meat to the pasta, is crafted with care. The flavors are rich and satisfying, showing off the chef’s passion and culinary experience from early years working in France. The homemade Pate en croute and steak tartare are standout items; I’ve had the pleasure of trying both, and they’re amazing. The salads are another highlight; I’ve tried all three on the menu, and each one is a delightful blend of fresh ingredients and creative flavor combinations. It’s clear that a lot of thought and effort goes into every aspect of the menu, making it a truly memorable dining experience.

Great pace with amazing French cuisine. The house bread is delicious; we had a couple of salads, and probably the best onion soup in Mexico City. Service was superb, super attentive and very knowledgeable about the dishes and its ingredients. Definitely coming back

A decent attempt at a bistro vibe that misses the mark on execution. Portions are fine, but the quality doesn’t match the high prices. Mussels came in a dish rather than a pot, losing the benefit of the sauce. The lamb was small and overcooked (well-done instead of medium). While the Béarnaise sauce and fries were excellent, the crème brûlée was tasteless. To top it off, the staff brazenly requested a 20% tip on a 10,000-peso check. Disappointing.

Great place to try the classics of French cuisine. The duck is a must try and the white oyster soup was delicious. A must try!

It is atrocious to think this restaurant has anything to do with French gastronomy. My husband is a red seal chef, trained specifically in traditional French fare so we aren’t strangers to the topic. Every dish was worse than the last. None were palatable with the sad exception to the French fries. The cook and smell was completely off on the fish. The oysters were extremely smelly… so smelly you can sense their waft over the 3 layers of cheese they called ‘Rockefeller’. The French onion soup also shares 3 layers of cheese, yet nothing resembling an onion soup. The scallop and mushroom carpaccio was more oil than a saganaki, and appalling. The Bijou was 90% vermouth and undoubtedly off balance. Mezcalitas were basically salt lick. The service was eerily awkward, a try-hard attempt without any finesse. For a Vinyl Bar, there was no vinyl being played, the prices were becoming of fine dining which missed every aspect, and the fish entree took 50 minutes to bring to table when we were the only table in the restaurant. This place deserves a better chance before they are forced to close.
