Meat was dry and little flavor. Pulled pork was just little bits of meat and it was dry. The ribs were also overcooked. The brisket did not have much flavor and was tough. Ordered 7 pounds of meat and a couple racks of ribs for a party. They verified the time for me to pick up when I called and paid for it. Arrived one minute prior to the agreed time and was told we were early and had to wait another 15 minutes for them to warm up the food she said. Sadly disappointed.

Oh My….. Talk About Some Seriously Great Food! My Wife & I Ordered The Brisket & Pulled Pork With A Side of Fried Okra, Sweet Potato Fries & BBQ Baked Beans. Everyone At St. George’s Was Very Hospitable, Very Friendly And Welcoming. The Experience Was AMAZING! The Food…. Please Pardon My French, “Kick Ass”! Definitely Going Back For Another Carry Out! And Very Soon At That!! Absolutely The Best BBQ Here In Springfield!!

I love this place! The couple that owns it is just so friendly and kind. Their BBQ is AMAZING! I honeatly would say it’s the best in town!! The prices are really reasonable for the portion sizes that they give you. I have not had a bad experience here at all! I always get their froed okra – it never disappoints!! Try their coleslaw too, its so good (if you like that sort of thing). You will NEVER order a bad thing here!!

My husband and I are in Springfield for a work trip, and we thought we’d look up local BBQ for dinner. I’m so glad we decided go stop at St. Georges, this place is absolutely delicious. Everything is hot and fresh and top notch. We got pulled pork sandwiches (amazing, especially with their BBQ sauce) and homemade sides (I got potato salad and he got the fries – SO good). You have to eat here, you won’t regret it!

Nothing special here, and some basic flaws. Pulled pork is supposed to be pulled, not chopped. Burnt ends are supposed to be burnt, not just ends. Beans were mushy and sweet potato fries were from frozen and overcooked. Sauces were ok but nothing special and had very similar flavor profiles.

We had St. George’s BBQ catered into work.
Here is my honest review.

Buns were hard.

Meat was not bad but not good either. Little smoke/flavor. Think small chunks and thin slices of bland, dry meat.

Potato side was … interesting. Cooked well but so much seasoning, it will give you indigestion for the next hour.

Beans were tasty. Could have used more onion/bacon pieces but still very good.

I enjoyed the pasta salad the most, or so I thought. Had to dig for a couple pieces of onion and cucumber/pickle. Ate half it when I realized I was eating cucumbers/pickles with mold. I thought “Noooo. Couldn’t be. Certainly it’s just a variation of the skin.” It wasn’t. I scratched off white, fuzzy mold.

I lost my appetite at this point.

All in all, this was catered so I did not personally lose money but I wanted to still share my experience for anyone thinking of using them for catering.

The food was fulfilling and tasted alright. The appearance of the food came off as sloppy. The supposed Carolina Reaper sauce was not spicy at all (possibly mislabeled?). The cashier was easy going and friendly. There was a hint of cigarette smoke coming from somewhere. What annoyed me was that we are a year into the COVID pandemic and the staff does not know how to properly wear a mask. The chef himself took the liberty to take off his mask to converse with another customer. Meanwhile, I received no service, not even a “Bye” or “Thanks” when I finished. I like their doughnuts but I’ll pass on the BBQ.

Just moved from Kansas City and finally found some good Q. Good portions. I got the 2 meats with 2 sides. Plenty for 2 meals. Very nice people running it. More geared for take out but they have a couple of picnic tables outside. I’ve had the brisket and pulled pork. The beans were great.

This is my favorite BBQ place! The portions are very generous and I’ve been impressed with all of the meats I’ve tried. I got the plate with two meats and two sides, and it was absolutely enough for two servings. For how much food you get the price is very reasonable. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and it’s family owned!
