St. Elmo was deceptively big, and it was hard for me to gauge its size from outside. It’s quite substantial, and each dining room seems to exude its own character. The staff was very professional and personable, and I was extremely happy with the service I received. I ended up splurging and getting the shrimp cocktail and a dry aged ribeye. The shrimp cocktail is famous for a good reason, and the cocktail sauce has a large quantity of horseradish. So long as you don’t exhale through your nose, it’s quite pleasant and very tasty. It’s an addictive dish. The ribeye came with some bean soup and mashed potatoes, and it all tasted great. It was a delicious steak, although I wonder if I’m really able to appreciate what the dry aging does. Maybe someday I’ll get to go back and compare it against their regular ribeye? Either way, the food and service were top notch, and it’s well worth making a reservation for a nice night out.

This is a great old-school steak house. The service is amazing. Each tux-clad server has very few tables. It has an amazing wine list. Everything I had was at the top of the scale of every where else I had the same item. Even the iced tea had a special flavor. I had the prime rib. It was beautifully trimmed and cooked to perfection. I had to try their “world famous” shrimp cocktail. It is “clear your sunuses” hot with grated horseradish. I happened to like it, as did two others in our party. It v was too much heat for one in our group. This place is one that needs to be experienced if you go to Indianapolis.

Phenomenal experience and amazing food. We went in the evening and had a great time. The service was fast and attentive. The shrimp is CRAZY HOT, but very tasty. I had the best filet mignon of my life. I was hoping for an equally tasty baked potato loaded, but it wasn’t anything tremendously special, even though it was tasty. The menu is limited, but it is all you need. They also apparently have one of the best stocked wine cellars in the state. I highly recommend this place if you want to impress someone. Five stars!

This place was top notch. This place can absolutely be used as a place to celebrate an occasion or just for a casual night out with friends. We came here to celebrate an Anniversary and there was a hand signed card waiting for us from all of the staff. Additionally, every single person that came up to our table wished us a Happy Anniversary. Service was attentive, knowledgable and friendly. The food was impeccable from start to finish! The steaks cooked to perfect temperature. And please for the love of God get the Bread Pudding. The best Bread Pudding I have ever had. At the end of our dinner, our amazing server, Jody, took us downstairs to see the wine cellar which was out of this world. All of these little touches of care and service were unbeatable and added to the memorable night.

Was out here at the convention center and had a nice treat trying this amazing long time steakhouse! Definitely one of the best I have ever eaten at the old school look of the place made me feel like I was back In time. Our server was great and the food was some of the best ever! The complimentary bean soup was amazing I could have it everyday if I could and that shrimp cocktail hit you with so much spice for like 10 seconds then it mellows out but it’s outstanding flavor! The salad filet that cut like butter the amazing potatoes and veggies and that creamed spinach was to die for! This is definitely an experience I won’t forget and I would come back to Indianapolis just for this steak house it is definitely a must try!

Without a doubt this is the most iconic restaurant in Indy, and possibly the entire state. I finally had a chance to try this steakhouse out and I came away impressed. The place oozes of nostalgia, and the dining room itself is actually pretty small and cramped. The menu is simple, focusing on steak and only has one appetizer; the famous shrimp cocktail. Even if you aren’t a fan of shrimp, I recommend trying the shrimp cocktail just to say you’ve had it. For steak, I tried the dry aged strip which was delicious, though I’m not sure I would pay extra to get an aged steak again. It tasted pretty similar to a regular steak. The lobster bisque was delicious and I highly recommend getting a bowl if available. We tried the cheesecake for dessert which was also delicious. Service was professional and attentive. Overall this is a great steakhouse, especially if you’re looking for an iconic dining experience.

Lived up to the hype. Everything from the shrimp cocktail to the high end service was exactly as I had hoped.

What a great experience.

The bone in ribeye was so tender and juicy. My baked potato was cooked and salted to perfection.

The ham and bean soup reminded me of what Grandma used to make.

The shrimp cocktail was the topic of conversation 24 hours later at dinner. My nose has almost recovered!

We celebrated our anniversary for the 2nd time at St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis, and it was another great experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was truly outstanding. We were greeted with a thoughtful Happy Anniversary card signed by the staff — such a classy and heartfelt touch.

Of course, we had to try their famous shrimp cocktail, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The steaks were perfectly cooked and full of incredible flavor, and the bourbon butter cake was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Even better, our dessert was comped as an anniversary gift, which made the night feel even more special.

The only downside was that the restaurant was a bit rowdier than expected due to the football crowd coming in after the game, which made it a little hard to have a romantic dinner. But despite that, the food, service, and hospitality were top-notch.

St. Elmo truly made our anniversary memorable once again, and we will definitely return.

This is an exceptional steakhouse. I thoroughly appreciated the experience. It was exceedingly pleasant and enjoyable. I admire how the restaurant took the time to acknowledge their employees’ names and years of service. It was heartening to see that they value their staff. Also, if you have time, be sure to take a tour of the steakhouse to appreciate the numerous photos from various eras.

The culinary experience was truly exceptional. We started with the St.
Elmo Shrimp Cocktail, the sauce of which was both delectable and spicy. The chargrilled oysters were outstanding, with the butter and Parmesan adding a rich and savory flavor profile. The lobster bisque, while enjoyable, would have benefited from the addition of more lobster pieces to elevate its overall flavor. The prime ribeye was cooked to perfection, exhibiting tenderness and juiciness. The filet mignon was expertly seasoned, resulting in a tender and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Both cuts of meat were thoroughly savored and appreciated. The sides were delicious and paired well with the steaks, complementing their flavors. The dessert, DOUBLE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE PIE, was rich, smooth, and creamy, with an intense chocolate flavor. I am extremely impressed by the exceptional quality and flavor of every dish presented. This was truly an incredible culinary experience.

Shrimp cocktail was amazing, I had the filet mignon with the red mashed potatoes absolutely delicious the fillet melted in my mouth I enjoyed every single bite. The atmosphere very comfortable with a little bit of Frank Sinatra in the background you can hear yourself think and you can certainly carry on a conversation without hearing everyone else’s conversation. I would definitely come back again when I’m in town without a question.
