Enjoyed a lovely dinner with friends. No reservations are accepted but our wait was shorter than estimated. We waited upstairs in the seat yourself lounge and had drinks and smoked fish dip. Service was fast and friendly. Our meal was terrific. Our waitress Arianna was exceptionally and our food came quickly, was piping hot and fried foods were crispy. Dessert was decadent and beautiful. Highly recommend

We hit Happy Hour at the Sunset Lounge and then dinner downstairs at The Square Grouper. We started with the Smoked Maple Bacon Manhattan upstairs. It didn’t disappoint. For apps, we had the baked goat cheese and an order of the grouper bites. We both had the ribeye for our mains, mine accompanied by the tile fish and the wife’s with blackened shrimp. All was prepared perfectly. This was our second visit to the Grouper this season and Ron was our server on both occasions; he is exceptional. Ron provides the type of service that makes dining out memorable. We look forward to seeing him on our next visit

Square Grouper – Islamorada

We were four people (two couples) and spent the evening on the third floor at the raw bar, which was a great choice. There’s an impressive variety of oysters, including some memorably named “French Kiss” oysters .

Everything we tried was delicious: stone crab, raw oysters, tuna tartare, gyoza, seafood chowder, Korean barbecue ribs — and the cocktails were outstanding, very flavorful and well balanced.

We were lucky enough to catch the sunset right by the window, which made the experience even more special.

‼️ Another bonus: they have a Happy Hour, which makes the experience even better.

✅ No reservation needed for the third floor — just walk in and grab any available table. The bar seats are also a great option and add to the lively vibe.
If you decide to eat downstairs, you might have to wait 20–45 minutes. Don’t worry — you can take a stroll on the dock and enjoy the birds and manatees while you wait.

✨️ The atmosphere is beautiful, relaxed, and lively, and honestly… the cocktails alone are worth the visit.

If you want to surprise your beloved person, this is absolutely the right place.

Great lunch for our final day in Florida. We enjoyed their beautiful patio and watched pelicans and a couple manatees in the water below. I got the blacked grouper sandwich and my husband got the shrimp po boy. Both were fantastic but the fish was a bit skimpy on mine. Would definitely come back.

Square Grouper Islamorada was a great stop. The setting is right on the water at a marina, so while it’s not a wide-open ocean view… the back deck is really nice if you want to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere.

The food was excellent. I had the Square Grouper sandwich and it was fantastic. We also started with the coconut shrimp, which was a great appetizer… and the drinks were spot on.

Relaxed vibe, solid food, and a great place to grab a meal when you’re in Islamorada. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I were very pleased with this place. The atmosphere is very laid back. It could be considered both causal and/or dressy. Wait time for dinner was approx 30 (1st come 1st serve basis, no reservations accepted) but definitely worth it. The food was phenomenal. We has the calamari and egg rolls for the appetizers. Very generous portions of the calamari and the egg rolls were delicious. Never had anything like them before.
Our 4 year old son was indecisive so he got both the Mac n cheese AND pasta. He ate quite a bit of both, which is actually kind of rare for him. My husband had the steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. The steak presentation was great, and he said it was delicious. Very tender.
I had the the grouper francaise with jasmine rice and green beans. Absolutely fabulous. Thr portions were so generous, none of us could finish our meals.
Definitely recommend visiting this place.

Lively bar, fun spot for dinner with friends! Great for larger groups. Bar with lounge prices expect ~$60 per person for dinner (with draaanks)

Wait time: on a Friday at 7:40 ~30 min for 4 people (no wait in the lounge). Estimated 45 min, actual 30 min!

Food: Everything was alight. Standout was the scallop, WOW!

What we got:
⭐️ grilled scallop (4.5/5) highly recommend just for this. cooked perfectly! the bed of sweet potato pilaf was also amazing!
⭐️ catch of the day: tripletail blacked (4/5) great fish great cut! *ordered as a side to the salad
⭐️ coconut shrimp (4/5) good batter and well prepped and cooked. yummy, sweet dipping sauce.
– fried calamari (3/5) al dente calamari, batter was damp so not a great crunch
– farmer salad (3/5) fresh, nothing memorable
– ribeye steak (1.5/5) ordered medium rare and got dripping red slab. they offered to bring it back to refire and it came back the same red, just a little more blackened on the top. my dad said worst ever steak. my sister thought it was fine, just super chewy (chewing one piece for 5 min — she’s a talker so it was nice for her to be quiet for a bit)

* we asked our server between the namesake grouper sando, almond crusted grouper and the catch of the day and she *without a beat* said the triplefish — and I agree!

Service: Emily was fantastic!!! She was sweet, attentive and helpful! And the staff that came over with the food was lovely

Atmosphere: Fun, bar with lively crowd. Pretty rowdy groups which brought up the mood. The lounge upstairs was also super cute and had no wait.

Absolutely incredible dining experience at Square Grouper in Islamorada! Located right on the marina, this spot offers stunning waterfront views and that perfect laid-back Keys vibe.

The chicken cutlet dinner was hands-down one of the best we’ve ever had — perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and the mashed potatoes were the perfect pairing. The Grouper Bites appetizer was unreal — fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. And the portobello pasta with key lime butter sauce was simply fire — rich yet light, bursting with tropical flavor!

The service was top-notch — super attentive and genuinely friendly, making the whole experience even better. Thank you Megan ☀️

Compliments to the chef for an outstanding meal!

5+ stars — highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Islamorada!

I wanna start by saying that Kaitlyn was absolutely great! She was the best she patiently described the menu, gave us her recommendations and asked us about our preferences. The restaurant is clean and spacious, the staff in general was great. The food was excellent….we had the Green Goddess ceviche and it was excellent! I will return again.
