Recommended by friends and stopped in for dinner. My 3 star rating is the combination of 4 stars for the ambiance, atmosphere and food, “ehh.” Restaurant is nicely decorated, clean, well lit and great ambiance. Greeted by hostess friendly and polite. Because it was a nice night, we chose to sit outdoors. Waitstaff was good. Waiter asked if we wanted bread and we said yes. Little did we know, we discovered the bread was not free. $4 chargers for the bread service when we received the bill. We ordered the house made Szechuan pork shrimp dumplings, crispy pork spareribs, Dan Dan noodles for 2 and Caesar’s salad with salmon. The dumplings came swimming in chili oil with pork belly. The chili oil was more oil than chili and the pork belly were very tough to chew. The spareribs were also hard to eat, dry but sauce was good. The noodles also swimming in oil and tasted Okay. The Caesar’s salad lettuce was a wilted and not fresh. We won’t be visiting again any time soon.

We stopped by for lunch Friday at 2:00pm. Despite only 4 or 5 other tables, service was slow. We were sat in a booth adjacent to the outside door to the patio on a 35-38 degree day. The patio was empty so I wasn’t worried. I ordered a Pastrami Rueben sandwich with no sauerkraut or Russian dressing and just mustard. Our food arrived and it took another 12-15 minutes to get the mustard because the server hadn’t checked in on us. Sadly the bread was soaked in butter and difficult to eat. My husband ordered the same with greasy bread, and my MIL ordered a cod sandwich that she enjoyed. Everyone’s french fries were hot and good. Midway through our meal, they decided to set up the patio and each and every time the young man went through the door, we’d get a cold breezy draft across our table. You’d think he could have waited; it was mind boggling and uncomfortable at best! I had to mention it to him. I gave up on my meal at that point. It saddens me to write this as I’ve heard good things about the restaurant, so I’ll chalk it up to a bad day… hopefully! $110.00+ for 3 sandwiches and non alcoholic drinks, you’d expect more.

In all honestly I haven’t had a great meal like this in a longggggg time. Every single thing we ordered was fantastic. GET THE MUSSELS. Wow! The broth was unreal. We took it home at the end. The carrot cake was probably the best dessert I’ve ever had. Everything was so fresh and the drinks were great too. Just strong enough and not overly sweet. Very balanced drinks. The service was also wonderful. We had the best server and the owner checked in on us as well. The hosts were also so attentive and kind. They checked in on our temperature because we were on the patio on a cooler night. She adjusted the heaters over us and we were very comfortable. I really couldn’t say one bad thing. I actually cant wait to eat here again.

The ribeye at Square Café in Hanover, MA was excellent and cooked perfectly. The service was great — our waitress was friendly, accommodating, and very helpful with menu questions and special requests. Overall, a great dining experience and one of the best spots in Hanover for a well-prepared steak. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and service on the South Shore.

Went to the cafe because we had been given a gift card. When we went in it was a very nice, staff was friendly & attentive , atmosphere was great. Seating at the bar is tight! You can’t move without bumping your neighbor. Pear ginger martini was delicious, but bartender threw out the dirty rocks so quickly I couldn’t ask to have them. (my mistake not asking for them up front). Pork rib appetizer was good but super salty. Our meals were good but portions are small for the price. In my opinion it is over priced & the menu is limited.

I love it here! Food was delicious, scenery was beautiful and the service was great. Try the mussels, spot on with flavor, a hint of heat and the mussels were plump. It was delicious I wanted to drink the broth from the bowl☺️☺️☺️ I got the lobster and shrimp flat bread, it was good, full of lobster, shrimp and roasted tomatoes! My flatbread was crispy and a little burnt on the bottom, but that’s how I like it. My daughter got the Bolognese, she loved it! They don’t have the Mocktails on the menu, but if you ask they will make you one! Our service was great, she was just so nice! Next time we go I’m sitting at the bar with a couple of app’s! As the nicer weather comes, they have a beautiful outdoor patio! After you eat, hit the liquor store for your wine next door or the coffee shop for the caffeine fix. Then enjoy shopping in Prevites! There is plenty of parking in the front and back! Looking forward to going back!

I had to say this, even though I give negative feedback. I haven’t had a burger for years and I heard good things about this overpriced place cafe and decided to order one.
I have to say that it was the worse dining experience of my entire life.
Food is over salty and I ordered a medium burger and got a dry to bone burger with burnt bacon. The fries were good but the salt cut my mouth.
The waitress came and asked if everything was good and I said NO, my burger was over cooked. To add insult to injury she offered me maionese to moist my burger.
No one apologized or offered a new burger or any solution.
I’m waiting for the bill. Needless to say I will never come back.

First time visiting Square Cafe Hanover! Excellent food- Burrata black truffle ravioli w/chicken and Key like with raspberry sauce! great patio dining, romantic and cozy. Service was pretty good- Manda was efficient and polite!
