Philips steak in South Philly is the real deal. Forget Pats and Geno. This is best cheesesteak in Philadelphia. The rolls are so soft and tender. The steak is slice perfectly and they have the famous hot peppers. Late night craving fixed. Definitely glad we made this stop even though we don’t live in the area. This is the hidden gem in Philly around Passyunk Ave.

This is a highly undervalued and under appreciated Philly landmark. I had a cheesesteak fried onions with American and it was awesome!!! Those other two famous places are tourists traps and suburban crowd. Philips is conveniently located minutes from the Sports Complex on Passyunk and is easy in easy out. Great value as well. Loved Philips. Highly recommend if you are visiting for a sports or concert event.

Hard for a steak to be bad, and this certainly wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t very good let alone great. The steak was cut too thickly for my liking and it made the overall mouth not as good as any other steak I’ve had. To top that off, the flavor just felt watered down. I’d definitely have it again, but it’ll never be one of my first couple of choices.

Last night we stopped at the food truck, outside of citizens bank park. The guys were super cool and friendly. We got two cheesesteaks with fried onions. OMGGGG they were so good. We ate half before we headed home, and the other half just now. definitely wanna check out their spot down the city and see what else they got. I just saw a picture of their cutlet sammich, on their IG, that looks stupidddddd good. I also LOVE that they have their Mama on the side of the truck. We Italians are BIGGG on family.

I’m was a Lyft driver from Maryland my passenger told about this plastic so I goggle it parked across the street. Ordered my cheese steak on went home. I’m a gastric bypass patient so I had to cut this huge over stuffed thing by the way when I got home this thing was still hot don’t know how but. This had to be the best ever cheese steak I have ever had and since I have told my passengers and friends to check them out Fantastic!!!!!!!

Great cheesesteaks considering they are open 24/7 but for me the star of the show are the hot dogs! Get a hot dog with whiz and onions, they sear the dog to perfection and the onions are amazing. Definitely give it a shot

PS if you want it chopped instead of sliced just ask. maybe the only place in the Philly area I know that does this.

So…I’ve been here many times. One of the classic spots. But I’ve been trying all the spots with extra American to create a level playing field. This last time it was not good (aside from the roll). Steak was lukewarm (how does that happen exactly ). Cold cheese was laid on roll, steak slices on top. So cheese didn’t melt. So I think the verdict is…Stick with Wiz at Phillips. Cheese fries were packed in a take out/Chinese style box and pressed down/packed in. So it was just brick of soggy mashed potatoes. Here’s my usual breakdown:
